Space flies help please

I've read all the threads about capturing space flies.. and have yet to find one. spent about 3 hours in Savage Spur, the unknown sector at the top right next the xenon... 347, and two other asteroid rick sectors. park my Panther Raider or an M3 and waited with SETA and nothing. most times waited atleast 5 minutes.. but more commonly 10-20minutes or left it for an hour and played with my daughter. But when I come back SETA is still running and now flies.

So I gave up on catching them, and decided to buy them.. been playing for 4 days, improving relations with all of the pirates and yaki... and not once have any of the stations had space flies to buy.. I need 10 for the test bed mission.

Any other ideas?? start anew?

I have seen a lot of spaceflys on Freedoms Reach , also I have heard that at one Corporations HQ you can buy those space bugs .

Strong Arms i believe has some. How much and how often they restock... I dont know.

I have seen them 'out in the wild' so to speak, circling a boron equipment dock... where was it? Centre of the map, near Aladna hill if I remember rightly. Took me by surprise as I'd docked at the EQ dock and went away to do some thing else around the house. Came back and undocked and wondered what all these lights were doing whizzing past the screen. Got far enough away to take an overview look back and there they where, just doing circuits, round and round the dock.

As for buying them, try split space as well, according to lore, split use them to power their engines.

Also look out for loot dropped by destroyed pirate ships, they will occasionally carry spaceflies.

I found some finally in freedom's reach with my M7, they don't come out for my m3 though.

Space flies are a random phenomenon, they can be found in any sector. one way to find them is press SETA for a few mins and wait for it to stop for 'no-reason'. it will be a spacefly... then spin around zapping your IonD till you find them and collect. if you dont find any move on try again.

Like the previous poster stated, spaceflies are somewhat random. There may be a sector where they occur frequently, though in all my hours of gameplay i have not really cared for them. Anyway there is a specific method to capturing them.
YOu will need:
1. A ship capable of using an ion disruptor
2. ion disruptors found in boron space
3. spacefly collector modification found in split space
4. space in your cargohold.

when spaceflies are about you will see them flying across your screen much like gnats fly around your face on a hot summer day. fire off your ion disruptor and the pesky flies will stop moving and become collectable wares in space. loot them like you would any other ware and you will be all set.

The easiest way I found to get 10 spacefiles is just killing pirates - seems like either m5/m4s have higher chance of carrying them. I got lucky with one bailer - he had 3 space flies in his hold.

There is a Military Outpost in a boron high-tech/military sector on the bottom left, which will also trade spaceflies (the outpost that one boron researcher who wanted spaceflies was on).

Got mine buying some there, and some from Strong Arms. AM/M warheads are way harder to get for me (got about 8 or so from raiding terran freighters, but that doesn't really cut it).

Yeah just in the process of getting warheads at the moment. Missions pop up infrequently so im just doing those for terrans atm
