Capping a Xenon L
For the Albion plotline... I know there's no "trick" and you just have to keep killing them til one ejects, but where do you recommend I go for best bet? If in Xenon sectors... what's a good not-too expensive (I have about 10m) build for a ship that could survive there?

Well the trick is to inflict as much damage as fast as possible without killing the ship, preferably in one swift go. A pilot will bail mor eoften if they have low moral stats (not really visible iirc) and Xenon have a rather high morale setting as default.

But the easiest way to to get a ship with area damage weapons like Flak and fly into large groups, increasing the chance just by having more possibilities. Anything shorter than a M6 wont do it though, Springblossom would be best as it has the speed to get away from anything should things get complicated. The Split Elefant (TL) is also used by many as cheap starter capital ship, with the benefit of being able to buy stations.

MFG

Split Mamba Raider with four Energy-Bolt-Chainguns and four Plasma-Burst-Generators (assigned in two different groups, of course!), an Impulse-Ray-Emitter in the back set to missile-defence.
At 266m/s you'll be faster than anything the Xenon can throw at you and the weapons should give you a fighting chance against up to M6.The ammunition-based Energy-Bolt-Chainguns allow you to fire as long as your supply lasts, without draining the energy you need for the Plasma-Burst-Generators.

For getting the potentially captured Xenon L out of there, damaged, slow and without shields... Maybe a fast TM with a jumpdrive, like a Boa (ca. 150m/s). It will be all about timing and you luring the stronger enemies away then, but it can be done.

Both of the ships I named & their equipment are well affordable with 10 million credits.

Your best bet for the sector choice is a low populated one, so you don't jump and get punched in the face by two I's one K one J and a swarm of fighters. Xenon Sector 598 just north of Grand Exchange is a good option as not many Xenon spawn there and definitely not destroyers and carriers. Biggest thing I've seen there is a J I think.

As for the capping itself I can't be of much help. I tried everything I could think of and after destroying lots and lots of fighters not a single L "bailed" until I could afford a ship that could mount Flak Artillery Array.

Good luck and give 'em hell.

Yeah, with a M2 is in fact very easy, but he's starting the plot and has 10 million, he won't be getting a M2 any time soon as those beasts cost around 150 million or more to buy and gear up correctly.

A M7 with some Flak Artillery and some shields is a much more realistic approach. A Griffon Sentinel, which costs around 40 million will make the job and it's one of the best, if not the best antifighter M7 out there so you will probably want it in your fleet sooner or later. And it's a beast of a ship, I've been using it as my personal ship for a long time.

Yeah 150 mil is out of the question for some time. Haha. Although I did just cap a few Yaki ships and made a few extra mil off of that. I'll try the Griffon Sentinel approach. Once I get my trade system tweaked I should be making a lot more money as well.

Well would you look at that; accidentally left the game to run in background and had it tabbed out overnight. Lost a lot of satellites and 2 ships but I have 75m credits. lol

Lol nice. Just so you know, if you idle the game for 1 hour your trading and fighting ranks start dropping at a 2% rate each for every time of idling, real time, so with SETA it drops much faster.

I'm happy you go the Griffon route, its a great ship and you won't regret buying it, trust me :D You can literally fly it through clouds of enemy fighters and it will always end up victorious with just some minor shield scratches. Damn, I love that ship.

After buying and gearing it you will still have money to replace those ships you lost and still have money to get yourself some more freighters or whatever you like to buy.

Ok got my Griffon... would you recommend Cluster Flak Arrays or Flak Artillery Arrays? Or a mix of both? Still have to get 4x1GJ Shield as well since the system I bought it in didn't have any (do they ever?)

Also: didn't know it was a carrier. Very cool! My first one. I have it carrying my pew-pew nova vanguard around just in case.

Guess it's good I'm carrying my fighter with me, also didn't know the Griffon can't dock with any of the smaller stations! No biggie.

Why? Why dose everybody like the Griffon. Split Panther is better in everyway. Also Flak Artillery Arrays for the griffon as it CANNOT equip anti-capital ships guns so the energy drain isn't an issue. Since you went with the griffon i highly recommend getting lots of typhoon missiles.

I'm not trying to take down capital ships.

Well then the 1st pirate carrack that picks a fight with you will win. But for the rest of your fighter bays i would recommend OTAS Venti's or OTAS Solano's if your running low on funds.

well I just expanded my industry empire into Dark Water and its surrounding regions.. I'll be able to afford another ship soon. :)

Nothing wrong with the griffon they are very nice ships, just make sure to stock up on typhoon missiles (making your own is best). Also i've gotta admit getting the guns needed to make the panther (or is sister class the Tiger) into a good anti-capital ship platform is a major pain in the a$$.

Because it's very small and agile, it's half the size of any other M7 so you can dodge almost all anticapital fire. That's why it wins against any M7, including Xenon Q. And it can mount 8 Concussion Impulse Generators in front and cockpit turrets giving it some nice firepower.

Ok i use my Hyperion Vangaurd as my personal ship (I did piosoned paranid, its really not that hard to get 25mil in 75 hours) so i needed an M7 that can take care of its self with the AI driving. I bring it along for its 20 fighters & its 10 incendiary bomb launchers just for capital ships. But as i said in my last post Griffons are very nice ships, once you start fielding M1's & M2's theres not a better anti-fighter escort ship in the game.
