Register the Game? Need 'No Steam exe' from Egosoft

I'm currently bugging the moderators on the Egosoft forums for an explanation on how to register my copy with Egosoft. I have recieved this reply:

"In the new forum BBS click on your user name (top right), select User Control Panel, Egosoft Settings top level tab, Game Registration left side tab, scroll down if necessary. That should help you."

And I still don't get it.

Does the moderator mean the Steam control panel, or your username within the game/steam page? Which I can't find.

My brain hurts. I admit I'm an idiot when it comes to stuff like this, and usually give up because it's so unnecessarily complicated. But I wanted to try the Litcube's Universe mod, and need that file.

You need to register at the official forums, then once logged in you will see a game registration button in the top left (next to Quick Links | FAQ | X4 Wiki). Once you click that you should see an 'update with steam' button.
