Turrets set to missile defence will not use missiles for it, but shoot the missiles with their lasers.
In there you can bring up details on any piece of equipment, ship, weapon, whatever and it lists everywhere you've seen where you might be able to buy or sell it.
Edit: Of course, the real trick is finding out where they're in stock... Sadly, that's just a case of searching for them.
Edit2: Oh! and welcome to the game!
i assume they are the same then. but it's weird, i'm using the star wars reborn mod and a few others, and on youtube i see people with the sames mods and with mosquito missiles instead.
i looked in the encyclopedia aswell and didnt find any mosquis there, so i assume they are really the same, i'm gonna do some testing to find out if the script works with them or not.
ps: i've set up the mosquito defence system on my ship but i'm afraid the script dont shoot because it has a different name than what the script expect.
Buy a dozen or so and keep them on your ship. When you're on board. open up the ship's autopilot control panel. (shift + C should do it) and under 'additional commands' select 'mosquito missile defence'
Once that's active, as long as you have mosquitos aboard, they should automatically target any incoming missiles.
It's not perfect, but it helps. Otherwise, try to fly a fast ship until you can get a well shielded one.
(Also, take a moment to download the 'Bonus pack' DLC. It's free and contains a few useful scripts... I'm not sure, but I have a nasty suspicion that mosquito defence may be amongst them)
I tend to play vanilla, so I'm afraid I can't help too much with modded playthroughs, but yeah, check out any military outposts and equipment docks you come across. It helps to leave sattelites (or cheap ships) in sectors, then you can just check stock levels directly from the galaxy map.
Edit: Most (but not all) missiles are pretty slow, if you're quick, you might be able to manually target them and either shoot them down, or manually launch a mosquito or similar fast missile.
Just out of curiosity what game start did you go?
Once you get into bigger ships, there are alternative anti-missile systems... You can set gun turrets to shoot at incoming missiles, and some area of effect weapons on larger ships are very effective at screening them.
I don't think anything is 100% effective, but once you get into a big enough ship, you'll have to worry less about them.
Good profitssss!
rebel fighter start, but i intend to claim a sector and start a new clone era based republic or something along those lines :)
