Translation : Your gpu MIGHT not melt as fast as it did pre patch.

Still runs like crap though

thanks for the single extra frame

mate i cant even open the game i click play and nothing happens
Technically playable on an rtx 3060, at low, at 30 fps or less, but still actually almost okay.
I can even quicksave sometimes
Ryzen 5800X + RTX 3070 Ti here (custom water looped card though), with DLSS on ultra performance mode with the Alt-X menu I got 120~140 FPS (1080p/144hz monitor) and the game never crashed even once while playing through it. I'm not sure what you people are doing wrong but this game is actually beautiful, works great, and has high FPS just fine. There's literally nothing at all wrong with the game at all. It's fast and beautiful and fun and everyone should be enjoying it properly.

So any news on Radeon 7000 series support, or is this on AMDs end and a driver update will fix it. Because right now 7000 series still produced insane graphical errors and artifacting, regardless of settings

So no AMD support sadly.
RTX is a nvidia only feature.
I don't see them supporting amd unless they throw a ton of money at the devs like how nvidia did. [/quote]

Interestingly enough, it seems that this and the most recent AMD driver may have fixed it, at least partially. It doesnt seem like its raytraced properly but theres no major visual bugs.

The steam page itself mentions that its compatable with all ray-tracing capable GPUs so theoretically it should be available with Radeon 6000 and 7000 series cards, as well as Intel ARC gpus

I got a pretty decent boost in performance over previous attempts -- but only after manually changing the preset in the Alt-X menu and then changing back to the High preset (RTX 3070 here). Maybe some changes I'd made before weren't overwritten until changing the preset, but that seemed to sort things out.

It's pretty solidly playable now. (Actually, getting well over 60, sometimes close to 90 fps in ultra performance, which looks fine with this game.)

It sounds like there microtweaking the drivers for single frame boosts over fixing the engine issues. Portal is a great game, but you can't just slap a feature into an older engine and expect great results. I thought they would have learned from the teething issues and hurdles Minecraft RTX give them but I guess not.

This is an Nvidia title design for Nvidia video cards. It is using proprietary Nvidia technology (DLSS & RTX) and therefore it most likely will probably never work correctly on AMD cards. These are *NOT* open standards. They are exclusive technologies that only work correctly on Nvidia video cards. There are different ray tracing technologies that *ARE* open source that work on both AMD and Nvidia but that is not what this game used. Games have to be designed from the start to support the open standards ray tracing technologies or they won't ever work correctly on AMD hardware. Anything that uses RTX and/or DLSS will only ever work correctly on Nvidia. Maybe AMD can find some way to hack and/or emulate it via drivers and software but it will never be the same (even if they figure out some way to make it work) as the experience of playing it on an Nvidia card. I don't like it and I know you won't like it but sadly this is what it is.

You can hope and pray and beg and plead for AMD to figure out how to get it to work on your AMD cards but it's never going to work correctly.
