When you first start the game at the main menu click "Options" underneath achievements. Now Nvidia and Valve DO tell us we shouldn't change any of these settings in there but there is one you can change that is fine: "Display mode". On the video tab change "Display mode" from "Full Screen" to "Run in a window (No border)" and click apply. Do note that on some systems when you first click apply there the game may crash once more then when you re-start it the setting should be applied, this is normal. Once that setting is set then you should be able to play the game and alt-tab normally.
As to your comment about super resolution, are you referring to the Alt-X menu?
"If you are then with Super Resolution you should only select either "DLSS" or "None". I don't know why they included the other options for Super Resolution but they do break things a lot. So either pick DLSS or None and it should work for you.
It's not that the game is unstable. It's just you may be picking the wrong settings.
