Game doesn't let me see my FPS
Now this is just weird... Nvidia overlay has FPS as "N/A" when I try to enable it.
FRAPS doesn't seem to work on this game at all.
No clue what's going on here but seems like funky business.
Can see my FPS just fine on any other game...

Use launch option -console, bind a console key in the settings, then cl_showfps 1. Works with all source engine games, including Portal RTX.

This game is so bizarre. I can't get MSI Afterburner to show the fps counter at all. The NVIDIA overlay shows N/A, and doesn't even work in 21:9 mode. I had to set it in a different game to show the FPS. I can't get the Steam overlay to even open. The only thing that works is using the developer console and setting cl_showfps 1, but even this only works intermittently as most of the time, it won't even let me open the developer console despite having it enabled.

Another unusual finding is that at 3440x1440 with DLSS Quality, I get ~110-120 fps on an RTX 4090, but with frame generation, fps reported internally by cl_showfps 1 actually drops to 80-90. However, my monitor shows a locked 165Hz, the maximum refresh rate. So, I don't know if enabling Frame Generation is disabling GSync or if it's really running at 165 fps.

In any case, the game runs and looks great at DLSS Quality at 3440x1440. At the standard 16:9 resolution (2560x1440), I get over 60 fps native without DLSS on maximum RT settings.

My experience exactly, except I don't have an RTX 4090, but RTX 2080 Ti, so worse really.

It seems to me that turning DLSS 3.0 on screws up Steam's built in FPS counter as well as the cl_showfps 1 counter. I'm pretty sure its because they can't "pick up" the AI frame that DLSS 3.0 creates so it just shows your normal FPS. An extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ workaround is dividing your current frames by two and then adding that to the initial number to sort of get a rough estimate of what frames you're actually seeing. cl_showfps 1 says my 4080 is putting out 120 fps at 1080p but that's obviously not true (based on benchmarks in other games). 120/2+120=180FPS which seems to be more in line with what tech Youtuber's have got with similar settings and in the same areas. Until RTSS/Afterburner get updated to fully support DLSS 3.0 you're probably gonna have to deal with this.

Another example of this is cyberpunk 2077's benchmark FPS counter. It doesn't account for DLSS 3.0 which is seen in 2klicksphillip's 4090 review, where it says he's only putting out 50fps on a 4090 with DLSS 3.0 turned on.
