Cant launch the game

When I click the play button, the button says stop so im assuming something is launching, but then closing because after a few seconds the stop button turns back into the play button, anyone know how to fix?

Same problem here. The log file shows warnings "OpenVR: could not open registry key, status 2" and "OpenVR: Failed to locate module", and there's a message about "sl.common" not being supported on this platform, but these are all warnings rather than errors. Does the original Portal game need to be installed, or is owning it sufficient for RTX to run?

Yeah I tried this too. My fix was to update to 527.66, reboot PC, then launch the game without that option. That got rid of player character model, and enabled the Alt-X menu.

It wouldn't launch for me even after following the various steps in this thread. What DID work though was right-clicking on the game and then unchecking "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".

sounds like you tryy to run this on unsupported hardware...

did you verify the files? that sometimes helps.
and as always... never post your system info. others might be able to help eventually (same issues, similar hardware). but how would anyone know...

i have noticed today that portal rtx will crash on loading when Action+ recording prog starts up and also Action+ crashes when portal rtx is running

I think we're missing some important information here with your comments: What video card do you have in your computer? I noticed you haven't told us yet.

I have an RTX 3070 Ti here and I had a very old driver when this game first released. I updated the driver and now the game works. Make sure you update your drivers.

what is action+ even? maybe don't use it then?

The -vulkan launch option fixed it I think but a pop up for some overlay not having compatible app available causes it to crash if interacted with.

ALSO my character model is visible while playing changing FOV seems to have no effect on this either. Check my only screenshot of the game & you'll see what I'm talking about.
