Game never starts after pressing PLAY in steam

Here are the steps I am observing:
- Click "PLAY" button in steam.
- Option to "Play Stormgate" or "Play Stormgate (DX12)" options appears.
- Click play in that window.
- The steam green "PLAY" button turns to "CLOSE" which indicates the game is starting.
- The game never starts, and the "CLOSE" button reverts back to "PLAY".

Any advice? I've always had this issue on this machine since day 1, but the game starts fine on another computer.

We currently have some known issues around DX12, and I'm wondering if that is causing the issue here.

I have 2 options and have tried both. No luck unfortunately. That article references GeForce RTX 40 series, and yes I am indeed using a RTX 4080.
