Banning long time supporters from the Discord then locking the thread on Reddit is madness. What a fiasco...
Positive review botting as well. Whether or not Tim is behind it it gets weirder by the day.
FG deserves a lot of flack for this so-called goofing and by the sound of Gerald's messages the higher ups aren't going to bother putting out any statements about the issue. They just fail to take any accountability at all.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LOL. The hypocrisy is just off the charts. You couldn't make this ♥♥♥♥ up. lol And Psychoberto keeps running around stabbity stab. It's a clown festival. The more stuff comes out...
I am just reading the threads that are there, tbh, the kind of people these people are is plain for everyone to see. It's just sad. : /
I feel the warp overtaking me!
Stabby 😭
Yeah, the lying and pr spinning just never ends. I don't even...
Bruh Stabby is out of control lol...
I think it sadly starts at the top and it trickles down. If the CEO does these kinds of things then everyone else will think it's OK. But I wonder if there is someone advising him to do these shady social media stuff... regardless, it is just so smh. : /
Oh.. someone on reddit suggested the Tims do Command and Conquer cheesy style cutscenes lol. Someone said Morten is fitting as a super villain... it so true. haha
Does he say that at the beginning of DoW? Haven't played the og in a while. I love the Grimdark vibes.
This particular quote is from DoW 2: Retribution cinematic
I'd say it is more complicated than simply disliking a game and walking away or hating it and trolling those who like it. Ultimately, the main reason we are here is because the devs made promises, and continue to make promises, that the future content will bring vast improvements and completely overhaul current state of the game and we are far from 1.0, no matter how low the player count.
People who have invested into the kickstarter, or stocks in the company, and time following, posting, debating, socialising about the game are expecting a return on their investment. We live in a day and age of scummy gaming corporations who overhype and underdeliver, often resorting to delays, buggy, incomplete games littered with microtransactions and needless gating of content and pre order bonues behind multiple editions to coax buyers into getting expensive collector editions. And we as gamers should know better by now than to fall for pre orders and bluesky kickstarter ambitions. Stormgate has fallen squarely into that industry trend and been a disaster. In saying that, it is not uncommon for backers of failed kickstarter campaigns, or just sequels gone bad, to be outraged at the devs for manipulative and advertising tactics long after the fact.
There are those who cut tail and run, writing it off and hoping to never hear of it again. And there are those who are disappointed from Blizzard's abandonment of Starcraft and Warcraft strategy legacies, desperate to have the mantle picked up.
FG were to be the ideal candidates for that, boasting AAA RTS cvs, and promising to do right by long time RTS fans that are suffering a long drought of good AAA titles. They were to usher in the next generation of RTS games and potentially even succeed the almighty SC2. They were lying.
Anyone who has played WC3, SC2 or older RTS games from the golden age knows this game will fail in its current state. Because of their false advertising and anti consumerism and PR botch ups they've been called names like fraud giant, flop giant and scamgate. And in typical anticonsumer practice, they blamed users for expecting things they never advertised (SC3) and being overly negative, driving player base down.
All this fake reviewing, fake review bombing, are attempts at damage control but are just more pipes in the pipeline of their marketing machine, creating even more controversy for themselves when the best thing for them to do is stop engaging with and blaming trolls on their channels and get to work on the bloody game.
The problem is, too much core content has been delayed and the goalposts and roadmap are shifting. AND FGS still believe they can turn the ship around and make a great game. Hoping to stage a No Man's Sky or FFXIV comeback. Referring to Baldur's Gate 3 as a game with a mid early access period.
So as a gamer still clutching onto the soulless shell of the $40 million RTS that MAY, in the ever so slightest of chances, resurrect into one of the greatest gaming comebacks, that leaves us in limbo about where the product is really at. All we can do is watch the circus going on in the social channels. And gee have the schenanigans there have taken on a life of their own. A reddit post joked about the Subwars between stans and doomers. Unexpectedly, stans have now turned on stans.
It's like watching a dysfunctional
yet addictive reality TV show like MAFS. We can even be participants!
Most of us probably know there is a 99.9999% chance the game still flops at 1.0 then the studio shuts down. Yet, FGS seems convinced we're in an alternate universe where they become gods of the RTS genre and the game is alive and kicking right up there with SC2. When will they get the memo?
In saying that, for all the time, money, and energy people have wasted on stormgate thus far, I sincerely hope they just give us the half-baked 1.0, close doors with a modicum of dignity, and be done with it.
TLDR: The game is not at 1.0 with probably less than half the content released. A lot have walked away from the game but we also cannot fully write the game off until 1.0 or they run out of funds and development stops.
Dark Crusade is really good. Loved the banter too. Had a lot of character that holds up so well. I'm not a huge 40k fan but because you are curious about mods, soulstorm has the ultimate apocalypse mod for a full conversion 40k geek out.
You should get the spaceport that allows you to attack twice in one turn.
OMG! Someone needs to make a CNC mod with the Tims in fmvs haha.
That's right, I am not satisfied with the game or the company producing it.
I think most of the devs' PR talk is deceptive, and people won't get what the devs promised.
Also, I love RTS games and I believe SG and FG are unhealthy for the RTS in general.
We need respectful and honest devs, not this charade.
I am here to prevent others from repeating my mistakes and trusting this studio.
Flee, you fools.
Also, I already made a review (EA day 1). And I think I did a good job preventing the devs from tricking more people.

GLHF
That so cool, there seems to be a ton of cool content ahead lol.
I love the aesthetics of Dawn of War and the constant action, Dark Crusdader's the overworld is interestingly designed too. You need to conquer more territory to get enough starting supplies to assault Strongholds because Strongholds start attacking you constantly... the Stronghold themes are amazing too... it all makes sense thematically and mechanically and gives you tons of freedom to choose where to go. I got the port, started near it, not sure if the starting faction has an effect on how near you start to it. I will try all the Dawn of War stuff in due time, it's a lot of good stuff lol. Warhammer is cool yeah, you can tell how it influenced Warcraft and Starcraft, if fact a lot of the best game designers seem influenced by tabletop games for some reason...
Just imagine TIm with a goatee looking menacingly into the camera lol. (But really I do wonder who makes some of these decisions... promise old blizzard quality while at the same time pilling on the user all the modern bs of the convulsing triple A industry).
As someone who has followed Larian since D:OS1, the self comparisons to BG3 are just more ridiculous deceit, the studios could not be more different in their design philosophy and in how they treat their customers. If anything SG should be compared to DOS1 rather than BG3, Larian was almost broke when they crowdfunded DOS1, received a fraction of the funds compared to FG(4m so 10% of FG's 40m), didn't have any help from celebrities/journalists/etc, yet managed to put out a product everyone loved. So if anything it only makes FG look so bad.
Ultimately I respect Chillflame because from what I have seen they have been keeping it real all this time in the face of the endless lies and being singled out multiple times by the FG Acolytes(again from what I have seen, and this suggest some history behind this).
Also this thing dishing out nuclear bombs every 5 seconds is amazing lol.

How does the lighting look so nice 20 years later lol.

Oh yeah also seems like they are deleting more stuff from reddit than ever, trying to control the narrative as much as possible. 😂 A reddit commenter put it beautifully:
Yes Dawn of War 1/Dark Crusade merged flavour and mechanics very competently. An introduction to 40k for many, myself included. Cheesy, bloody, but grimdark all at once. Not that I like really bloody games. The recycled metamap campaign missions got a bit repetitive outside of the strongholds that are otherwise big highlights.
I hadn't paid much attention to the lighting. I guess it's good. Lotsa pew pew and explosions.
Dawn of War 2 took away the base building for a more real time tactics/ARPG approach. The aesthetic is more grimdark and fairly monotonous but gameplay is rock solid for what it is.
Dawn of War 3, well... that one was a disaster. I like the fact it brought back base building and the RTS feel. Everything is else lore and mechanics wise was broken one way or another. The game is not entirely bad, I just wish it wasn't called Dawn of War 3.
I thought that was Pillars of Eternity where the studio was nearing bankruptcy. Did Larian struggle too?
If SG became the modern day RTS equivalent of DOS1 we would have all been happy.
The only thing this company has in common with Larian seems to be that they both had kickstarters in old PC genres and financial insecurity lol.
