Stormgate
RTS games without ballistic simulations feel so boring
In SC2/Stormgate a unit has 100% hit rate, even if it shoots an orb or projectile that moves slowly. Yeah okay that's fine at point blank when you expect misses to be nigh-impossible, but what about when it's a fast moving target at maximum range? Nobody is 'that' good at aiming.

Let me remind everyone of an obscure little-know game called Homeworld, ya know the first 3d RTS ever made. Projectiles in that game were all simulated, if they were aimed right and the target did not evade, they hit. If the target evaded enough or was fast enough, it missed.
Amazing right? Like...A logical series of events that leads to damage, or the lack of damage?

Well, how is it in 2024 we get a game that has BROODWAR levels of complexity? Stormgate is, as far as I am concerned, a 90's RTS with a fancy (and ugly) graphics mod covering it. We aren't running these games on windows 98 anymore Frostgiant! We can have engagements that are beyond 10 meters range! People can throw stones further than units ingame fight each other!

New Terminator RTS did things right, actual ballistics simulation. Fire an RPG at a target who changes trajectory rapidly? It misses, as it SHOULD.

It has nothing to do with being able to or not being able to handle simulation for projectiles. Its just a different type of gameplay. Not every rts should have simulation for projectiles. Hell, the most played rts games tend to not go that route. Play what you want and what you enjoy, but dont make it sound like projectile simulation should be a base part of modern rts games. I dont very much care for it, but to each their own.

RTS definitely needs to modernise the mechanics more. Men of war, steel division/warno, going out more, Total war warhammer 3 are moving on but there is this old arcadish template that is so desperate for a new game too. SG did not have to be the biggest new strategy game but it is lacking for new ideas.
You cannot have 'super high budget Esports giant!' and 'super low effort gameplay' at the same time.
If stormgate was a 10 dollar indie game? Hey, sure! Go head with simple gameplay mechanics! But this is a multi-million dollar project that has taken a long time to make.
If barely educated russians can make better RTS mechanics, that's a problem.

Welp, that's literally what they were going for. Keep the skill ceiling high and lower the skill floor. Fair to say they still have their work cut out for them.

Those aren't accurate, you know a lot of people play offline mode.

This is actually inaccurate to say. Steam offline numbers have been posted for numerous games etc. Almost the entirety of a steam games player base is online. It seems as though you're just trying to make excuses for poor player retention.

Correction: It isn't perfectly accurate. But it certainly reflects a trend, and because we're social creatures it would be hard to believe there's any truly significant number of players in offline mode.
Company of heroes, not entirely simulates but you have accuracy system and armor values
You say this is boring but then mention a game that I consider a snorefest.
