Subj. New computer. New Stormgate. And already not supported. Biggest disappointment this year... Thanks Holy Space Invaders it seems to launch OK on Steam Deck ...

What are you seeing that makes you think it isn't supported? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm just not seeing anything.

I am literally seeing this message "ARM64 not supported" and game does not allow to continue.

you might be reading this as AMD. arm64 is different, in consumer hardware that's only common with phones, chromebooks, and newer macs with Apple CPUs.

For a windows game to be x86_64 only is very normal.

Snapdragon cpu on laptop is arm64...

ARM64 is the new Windows processor from Qualcomm and I believe most Windows 11 Copilot+AI PCs come with ARM64 CPU in 2024 onwards. I have an "older" ARM64 Surface Pro 9 which otherwise plays Starcraft 2 and many other games without issues (and has no active cooing fan!)

ARM is a completely different architecture from x86, I wouldn't expect anything to be compatible with it without either a translation layer or a complete arm native rebuild of the game

ARM is basicly incompatible with everything nothing is programmed to run ARM yet,
way to early to adopt ARM specialy for gaming.
if youre a gamer and nobody told you this when you bought your machine refund your pc and get an AMD cpu + suitable gpu for gaming.

list of games that were tested on ARM64 that either are completly broken and simply do not work at all or run with abysmall performance

https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceGaming/comments/1dndfq6/support_snapdragon_x_pluselite_game_compatibility/

So again when you´re a gamer get rid of your ARM cpu and buy an X86 machine
otherwise you will run into continued trouble over and over again.

I could not agree more! ARM PCs are slow and buggy.

As many people are saying, i think you shouldn't have bought a processor that is way different than intel or AMD, next time you should go intel or AMD but i saw it's too late though.
Grislebeard Jul 31, 2024 @ 10:05am
yeah, most games on steam don't support ARM64. What did you expect, comrade? Find a translation layer, I suppose!
realgrandrew Jul 31, 2024 @ 12:23pm
As I said, I'm playing Starcraft which works perfectly.

ok iam beeing straight here with you man
iam IT-Salesman and i tried to explain to you as best as possible
that you made a mistake
and the only option you have is to return whatever you bought and get and AMD system
(as 13th and 14th gen intel cpu´s are flawed and therefore cannot be recommended at this time)

But you have to understand that there is simply no other option for you.
Yeah if starcraft works (this is an absolut outlier)

ARM is probably the next step in technology advancements BUT as i tried to explain to you its not anywhere close to be there yet to be useable/reliable specialy for gamers.

So you can either accept that or deny reality and i can guarantee you 100% you will have so many issues that you will not be happy with the device you bought wich i highly doubt would be in your best interest.

OK so you cannot play League nor Valorant, nor Diablo Immortal, nor Fortnite, but you were somehow expecting to be able to play Stormgate, a game in Early Access in the period before the Early Access launch.

same problem here. i have older intel laptop but i wanted to play it at the new one. i have starcraft 2, starcraft remastered, heartstone, warcraft 3 remastered and everything works fine. seeing this made me ask for a refund. sorry stormgate but this is a bad sign.

Unless Intel and AMD decide to leave the x64 architecture, don't expect ARM based CPU to take off anytime soon in the PC gaming sphere. It's the same with gaming on Linux and Mac. Windows and the x64 architecture have a monopoly but nobody wants it to change because it would mean giving up on decades of older games/apps.
