EQII has it's Own Lore which is almost as vast. BOTH Can Be $ intensive but if played a a steady pace it'll be awhile before you really need to Drop any $,
LOTRO Has a way to earn Cash Shop Currency. (the cash shop isnt Really P2W, but Cosmetics and Mounts can Be $$$$)
*I pay the 15 dollar monthly fee.
It just has some of the expansions to buy and what not. But from what I know, Rise of Kunark and anything released before it is free. And I do love me some Sarnak,
That aside, LotRO overall has more locked content that's even more expensive to unlock unless you subscribe, but the expansions in EQ2 are the same exc. you can also permanently buy them, which still is less than all the content in LotRO that you can buy.
Lorewise, both games are pretty good, your character is tied with the happenings in the book series when it comes to LotRO, and EQ2 has it's own lore which is pretty intense too.
Gameplay wise, EQ2 has a bit more combat scheming from what I can see. And tons more classes, and the best part is is that no race is locked to a certain class unlike LotRO, sure, the stats of a race can be against what you class as, but at least that doesn't stop you from playing it out. EQ2 also lets you be evil without having to pay (Where LotRO made Monster-play Member/Purchase only)
Overall, however, both games should be given a try, I personally find EQ2 better, but that doesn't mean you should go with my suggestion.
And remember; have fun. uwu
LotRO content goes up to level 100 but you have to puchase the expansions and quest packs[www.lotro.com] after level 45'ish. (You can kill monsters you just can get side quests)You also only have two bags, as for races you can play as the default races.
IMO EQ2 is the better game to go with.
can you solo EQ2 ? Look for a MMO that you can solo if needed. I know it's an MMO but I like playing with other people seldom.
As for class any class that can off-heal/tank imo is a good class but, Paladin, Shadowknight, Bruiser/Monk, Inquisitor and Necromancer are what come to mind.
I buy expansion for lotro, but not get nothing, so yeah.. dont play any roppery games if you want to but you money for gaming, and lotro is one of roppery game.
