iv downloaded the 15gigs then when i start the launcher it installs very slowly any idea why?

You have like 9 years of patches and such to go through but once that is done you are home free

Steam has nothing to do with it. You download the base game (whether from Steam or EQ2's site) and then update to the latest patch - which can only come from EQ2's servers.

Even if you download the game from EQ2's site you aren't downloading it with the patches already installed, it doesn't work that way.
