FAQ for the new progression servers. For pvp the initial details are promising.
Once everyone figured out how to hack for gear (meet qeynosian friends and kill each other endlessly in Nektulos for tokens, anyone?), and 'balance' started to happen...then that was kind of sad. But for the first year...worth every minute spent.
I am looking forward to these as well. I think we will never get that shiny new feeling back - that's kind of like the first time you were really impressed at the Millenium Falcon going light speed in Star Wars. That can't happen again. But I do think the game was a lot of fun way back when. I think this might breathe new life into the game.
Then after 1,5 years servers will be ghosttowns just like the other everquest servers ever put out.
And there I foresaw the future.
Well yeah -- but it's not going to last forever ... hell, these are video games not real life, but even real life has an expiration date. It's about how much fun you can have before that happens!
If you want to build something lasting I advise looking outside the digital world.
You need 'all access' to join these servers, but it's worth it to me. I can't stop smiling while I'm running around the old zones again with players everywhere and enemies back to their original strength (not all, but a lot of them are). And xp gain is also back to being REALLY slow, which I think is great. I been playing a lot and only made it to level 17. People stick around in the lower dungeons for days now before moving on to the next thing.
And the devs will continue to work on making improvements.
And we'll have ingame polls as well to decide what makes it into the game.
