Recovering old SOE account
So I had bought boxed EQ2 many years ago - probably when it first came out - but didn't keep with it for long, not even to the first expansion. I tried to get back into it about two years ago but I had some trouble recovering my account at the time. The password recovery feature would give me a temp password but I couldn't log in even with that; I suspect it may have been compromised during one of SOE's hacks and eventually banned.

Anyhow, I come back now and see that they've changed to Daybreak. Attempting to login or recover with my old SOE account names/emails doesn't work, and I noticed some FAQ that (automatic?) migration of accounts ended Jan 31 2015.

I'm just wondering whether it is possible to recover or make use of my old EQ2 purchase now. (I do still have the box and CD key.) Is there any benefit to having an original purchase on the account? (Something like LOTRO's premium, where you have some benefits above FTP even if you're not actively subscribing.) I'm not too concerned about getting my old characters/gear back but I would prefer to play with my "main" account, with the legit purchases on it, even if I hadn't touched it in years.

I think that the migration thing is not for SOE -> DayBreak (if you look good, it's still the same company, only the stock has changed. At some points there's still SOE in the text instead of DayBreak :D: ) but for the EU players who migrated out from SOE to Pro7Sat.

Not sure if you can recover if you con't have any of the data. You might give it a try through support, but expect it to take some time for them to respond if it's even possible to track down your account with the boxed code...

Having a legacy account has no real benefits (aside from a decade of veteran rewards), other than that it might be flagged as 'Silver' instead of 'Free'. Though still the same, 'Silver' was used at the 1st try of F2P when you spent more than $5 in the cash shop. Some people still refer to their account af 'Silver' though ;-)

Also worth to notice that there are 2 time-locked expansion server (PvP and PvE) now available for subscribing players (they arrived early this week - the 23rd?). Unlike the regular servers, these 2 servers are very crowded and I heard in guild half an hour ago that for Stormhold (PvE) there's even a queue up to logon!

I was able to recover it, and unfortunately it does look like it defaulted to "free" status over silver: although I have 5 characters on the account, only two are accessible, can't chat in public channels, can't use the broker (although apparently I have some items still listed, but can't add more or buy).

The 11 years of /claim rewards are nice, though. A lot to sift through, as well as deciding who gets what.

If you ever setup an SOE account it should still be there as a free account. You can just download off of steam and login with your old info from the launcher. That's what I did and all the vet rewards were there waiting.
Now if you forgot the password, id, or both, you can recover it but just be aware it can be a big headache and might take some time because they require all kinds of info to verify your account.

I know I was able to recover my SoE account at some point. Anyway, if you really hadn't used the account for that long, you probably wouldnt loose much by making a new one. Best of luck in what ever course you choose.

^^ agreed... Only rewards I really use are the bags, but you can get bags by just playing. You won't lose much if you start over. Hope to see you on Norrath sometime.
