Everquest 2 and Windows 10

[Game Cooker US Rocks VR]

I just upgraded to windows 10 and have no problems with any other game. I did a fresh install of EQ2 just yesterday and when I start it up I get a black screen where the intro video is playing and then I hit 'esc' like I usually do anyhow on my other computers to get to the character screen and the game just stays black and does not advance. I waited and nothing. Then I tried to go to desktop and then hit the icon at the bottom to bring it back up then it just freezes and I can't even stop the process at that point to restart it. Same thing happens over and over when I restart my computer. Is anyone having a problem like this? Any solutions? I was thinking about just using the installer from the EQ2 site instead but I do like using STEAM preferably.FYI: my computer is strong and up to date on all drivers. Thanks.

No idea if your up to date on everything and only happens with Win 10. Im running it just fine with Win 10 and never really had any problems with it. Have you tried verifying game files maybe thats the only thing i could think would be wrong.

I just got it to work. I just ran it in Win 8 compatability mode. Apparently a fresh install on 10 warrented this. My other computers run it fine in 10 just like you. Thanks.

You may have to re-install the game if you upgraded Windows with it already installed. Then install it as Administrater because the launcher has to have Admin access if I remember correctly. Then if there is still a problem run it in Win 8 mode. That is all I know. :). Hope you get it working.

Having the same issue. I run Win10 Pro on both my desktops and both give the same result.

Same issue here. Solved it by going into the Steam EQ folder, Steam/steamapps/common/Everquest 2, and running DXSETUP.exe. That will reinstall DX and hopefully fix your problem.

I had a prob with this game too fresh install. Got black screen when I started it up first time. I could hear the movie running for a while then silence.

From the options in folder I started the game up in windowed mode and voila it ran. Then I changed settings to hd and alt entered and was able to play fine. I use the latest driver from Nvidia and win10.

I just don't know yet if it will run on my ati-amd pc.
