I enjoyed EQ2 is a great game, huge complex world. However, the state of the game is dead, Group finder for 5 mans is dead, the world is dead.

Sad, but honestly just jump to SWTOR as its a very alive MMO, slightly more casual however.

SWTOR 10K+ Players.

EQ2 204 Players.

Its a good free alternative.
Or WOW, elder scrolls or FFXIV are great paid options vs this ♥♥♥♥.

i wouldnt say that .. but sci fi and fantasy are two very different tastes. i love swtor.. and i grew up on fantasy and star trek.. the ONLY reason i give eq2 a thumbs up is the race variations. i wish more mmo's had stuff like the fairies etc :)

I've recently returned, and have begun some new character/s on Kaladim (the Time Locked server). I've had a wonderful time thus far.

Re population; Yes, it's much quieter than it was 10+ years ago, but that is absolutely to be expected. /General & /LFG channels on Kaladim are quite busy with players looking for groups, and with a mix of all levels I've been pleased to discover.

I've made a several new friends, joined a great guild and have had much group adventure. I believe one just has to put oneself out there a little and realise we won't always get what we want (e.g. we won't always find a group to do the content we want to do at any given point in time) but if one persist the rewards of this game's great little community are certainly there.

Raided for years on live, time and time again the devs got more and more greedy.they wont get another dime from me, every new idea they add to the game is some new RNG money grab bs. BiS mount ~$1300 usd lol Edit - Ireally do love this game its sad to basicaly give up on it, but the content they are pushing out imo is just lame attempts to squeeze more and more money out of the player base. If you are going to try this game its TLE or nothing now imo

EQ has been dying for a decade. But it takes time to bleed it dry and theres plenty of servers with a thriving playerbase. Yes, the franchise "lost" to wow. But you dont kill a behemoth in one shot.
Come join the fun on Kaladim, a TLE server with grp 24/7, mebbi youl realise that there still plenty of life in the dying grandpa. New playeres join every day, vets are returning and people are friendly and share

damn. that kinda sucks. i never got to play this back in the day so im tryin it out now and its kinda fun. only i havent seen a single other person since i started. a shame since this game is pretty good. was just looking for something to play i between playing FFXIV

I used to play the hell out of this back in the day, now all the DLC is crazy expensive (25$ just for the beastmaster class) and the community is all but gone. It sucks, because I LOVE the style and lore of this. I was hoping that reinstalling it would give me a bit of nostalgic fun, but alas. it's good to hop on and quest for a while when you're bored, I guess.
