First and foremost - taxes, taxes, taxes. Huge majority of all monetary income will come from your residents. All four citizen classes will generate substantial income, but they need to have as high morale as possible. Each class (laborers, manufacturers, technicians, specialists) has two different housing units. If you click on any of them for each of the citizen classes, you'll see in three tabs what that class wants to be in high morale (basic needs, luxury needs an public services). Every class has different needs and the higher the class the more different things they want.

But if they are fully stocked and happy, they will generate thousands per each housing unit.
The more people + the happier people = happy treasury

thanks for the answer. I have another question, Should I build manufacturer housing even if the factories that I have built just call for laborers? Or will manufacturers work there (like in a printing press or tailor ?

No, Manufacturers will only work in buildings that require Manufacturers specifically. They're required for more complex production.

There was something some players tried as sort of a "money cheat" - to build lots of manufacturers houses, even though they weren't needed at that moment - just to get better income people in the city and collect hefty taxes. However, that approach cannot work if forced too early, because you'll get your manufacturers, you'll even initially get boost in taxes, but if your city production doesn't yet need manufacturers, they'll also be unemployed and that will eventually lead to riots.
thanks again. Your support is appreciated

What's the point of this? Trading is highly random and inconsistent, and there is no other useful way to spend money.

Being barely positive is all you'll ever need or I missed something.
