I think DLC for additional Heli's is actually a good idea as it helps fund the development of the game.
It will be looked into. No promises.
At least the DLC will be fairly priced and not demand 100's of hours to learn how to use before fun can be allowed.
The only real reason the Super Hind will be DLC is because of the remodelling the exterior has had to go through. Plus, this one will also come with a fully modelled interior rather than the simple texture mapped interior the current Hinds have.
Both of those things take time and money to produce. So, the only way I can realistically do helicopters that fall outside the core helicopter list is charge a little bit for them.
Prices will be kept sensible and once there is enough I can make bundles out of them or do some kind of "Beast Mode" version of the game that contains everything.
The other advantage of having DLC is that should I ever be able to realistically approach anyone about licensing TV helicopters I will have a rough idea of how many I need to sell to re-coup costs.
What I am trying to say is this: There is a chance that many players might skip the Super Hind DLC simply because 1) there are already plenty of Hinds in the game (even if the Super Hind is a vastly different beast) and 2) it is most likely going to be only a single variant of helicopter (whereas I assume that, myself included, most would prefer at least 2 or 3 variants per DLC helo).
Just thought I'd put that out there; hopefully I'm wrong and the sales of the Super Hind *will* be representative of other DLCs in the future (in a good way!). In any case, I plan on getting each and all of them eventually - it's pretty much a no-brainer for me at this point (and this is one of only three games where I can say this; the other two are Vampire Survivors, where all DLC are super fairly priced and contain lots of content, and Automobilista 2 where I actually do not need to get any DLC because my Paddock Club Membership includes all current and future DLC plus Beta access).
I've said this before and I will say this again: If development continues the way it has, HGDEX is really going to be something special, and can easily count itself among the venerable great sims of the golden days in future history books. It was just released a little later than the others!
That will be reflected in the price, single choppers will be cheaper
I know what you are saying though and I won't be just doing the Super Hind and then saying "no one bought it so no more DLC, ever!". I will take a more measured view of the return on investment.
The mention of DLC doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to concentrate on releasing DLC stuff
1st I need to complete the new Sector System and get that running to at least the same level as the current Random Mission generator. Once this is done most of the hard work will be complete and I can then look at adding more content to the game which will include upgrading Norway and definitely a European map.
What is the "sector system"?
Best thing is to read the DevLog thread here. Start on Page 18, Post #262. Post #270 has some images of what it looks like.

Got it! The sector system sounds very interesting, hope you can get it working soon to see how it looks.
Well, the Sector System is what will drive the campaign so every step forward with that system is a step forward for the Dynamic Campaign. I don't really have any time scale for the campaign just yet but once the Random Scenario Generator is fully functional you'll know it won't be too far away
