Sometimes I will turn off the music in HGDEX and play a collection on Amazon of war movie themes in the background. Love it when "Ride of the Valkyries" comes on!! The triplet horn riffs in the Patton theme great for sniping runs!
It might be possible to do something similar - basically you'd have low, medium and high intensity versions of the same track and you'd mix between them depending on the on-screen action - I think Need For Speed 2 did this as well.
It's obviously a lot more work to do it but it's still a very under used system that seems to have fallen out of favor - I'd love to have a go at doing it.
And yes, Comanche was one of my favorite games and you'll see a lot of it influence from it in this game too.
