Is That Your AH-56 Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?
Okay, this may be the most obscure geek trivia I have ever posted, but I think I just saw an AH56 Cheyenne in the 2011 movie "Collision Earth".

It's around the 56 minute mark when some kids are being shot at by a rifleman, and they hide behind the nose and canopy of what I believe is an AH-56. I'm not truly certain, it's likely wishful thinking, but it looks quite a bit like the real McCoy.

So "Collision Earth" is terrible. Even if you forgive the low budget and the risible science, nearly all the hero characters are killed. And I'm pretty sure it was filmed a few kilometers in British Columbia from where I live. I'd link to it, but the links are all for pay versions of the movie, and really it doesn't deserve our money. Apparently, "Collision Earth (2011, Kirk Acevedo) is on Prime+. Crave, too, if you get that. Maybe someone can corroborate my sighting.

The "action" takes place in an aircraft graveyard, the kids are searching for radio parts to contact a Mercury probe. Don't even ask. The airframe they hide behind is in pieces, so it's not a whole helicopter. It's aged. But it is unique. I'd love to identify it.

I know the airport, I've been there, and the graveyard has been removed since. I have no idea who I'd even ask. And how would pieces from a real AH-56 get there? It seems so far-fetched. "Say, do you guys remember about fifteen years ago storing in a very slip-shod and lackadaisical manner a top secret American military helicopter prototype out in the open air? And then there was this movie starring one of the soldiers from 'Band of Brothers' where the planet Mercury crashes into Earth?"

Geek.

It'd be very interesting if it was a Cheyenne. Unfortunately, in the UK, it doesn't seem to be available on Amazon. Confusingly there is another "Collision Earth" from 2020 - not sure if it is a remake or not.

I thought there was only 3 or 4 surviving airframes and I believe these are all in museums. However, it might be possible that wreckage from the crash ended up in a graveyard.

Interesting stuff anyway.

Can you post a screen shot?

I will eventually, if I can find no other way. There is a newer "Collision Earth" and some videogames, too. I doubt there's any relation, the chances of a media franchise are truly remote.

Who knew such a simple question would prove to be an odyssey worthy of Homer? I won't bother you with the story, just that I am stuck right now with providing an image in Dropbox of all places. I apologize for the bizarre nature of the link, but it's just Dropbox and the link goes to the image.

So what is this thing? The two kids are being shot at, which is why they are cowering. The movie is too cheap to have the shooter in the same frame as the kids. It has to be too cheap to truck in a bunch of airplane parts to a residential airport just for this one scene. The parts looks like they've been there a while. Not shown are a couple of cargo planes in pieces and a small transport helicopter also in pieces. Plus: just a lot of pieces.

Looking the airframe some more, I just can't identify it. I'm fairly certain it's not the gunnery cupola for some large bomber. But it could be...? But why? The rest of such a bomber is definitely not there. The business is Blades Aviation, which from what I know ran a helicopter ferry service, heli-ski, that kind of thing.

On the top of the... thing, it looks like an engine fairing. Shoved to the side is a winglet. This is the best view in the movie of whatever it is.
