Dynamic Campaign
So, pre-empting the almost guaranteed request for a dynamic campaign system here's my official response...

Short Answer
Not yet, but it is coming!

Long Answer
I am currently looking at two styles of dynamic campaigns...

1. Unrelated random missions where the number of successful/un-successful missions pulls or pushes overall victory towards or away from you. Some elements of the missions will be based on what state the campaign is at overall so, for example, enemy forces may be stronger if you fail several mission in a row or if you successfully complete a mission destroying a supply base then the enemy may be weaker.

2. A more open dynamic campaign where a combat area will be randomly generated and it will be down to you to plan missions to complete set objectives. At the end of each mission your performance will be evaluated, time will advance and enemy/allied movement will be calculated. Damaged/destroyed installations e.g. Radars, sam sites etc will be saved and will remain destroyed for the following mission(s) or until the enemy repairs them etc. You will then plan and execute your next mission. repeating the cycle until a win or lose condition is met.

Further thought.
Could you assign AI groups (like EF2000,TAW,Falcon 4, Mig Alley on the campaign map) to take our SAM sites ahead of you , different departure times, and you then fly in (along with my wingman)to take out a supply depot for eg? Make the world feel alive!

...Falcon 4 and EF2000, Mig Alley modelled the ground war the best. If you destroyed a bridge. It stayed destroyed. Knocked out a Sam site or airbase then you could fly over it. The DMZ moved in real-time with F4. You could see tanks engaging from your plane. The other thing was you had limited planes per airfield and munitions in EF2000\Mig Alley
You could even move planes to different airfields...

There will certainly be elements of those campaigns in this one. Every single vehicle will be tracked individually and will stay destroyed when destroyed. When the campaign (or dynamic mission) is generated there will be a set number of MBTs, IFVs, APCs etc per side. When they are destroyed they are gone, at least until re-enforcements arrive but these will take time to get to the front lines.

Units will move between sectors so it is quite possible to intercept both supplies and re-enforcements as they transit between areas - knowing when/where these convoys are will be dependant on intel levels although you could just stumble upon one mid-mission.

Ground units will fight among themselves in a semi-realistic way in that rounds fired (whether they are tank rounds or ATGMs) will be visible and will actually have to hit the vehicle they are being fired at. However, some physics calcualtions won't be applied e.g. gravity to keep things simple.

Sounds incredible.
I don’t know how your going to pull it off, but I’m in for the haul anyway.
Good on you Jimmy.
Your belief is infectious :FishingGuy:

Well, it's not going to happen over night - it'll be little steps each building on the previous. :steamhappy:

But we'll get there :D

Of course not, but before you know it your 60, like me. 33 years of gaming, pc building.
Quite shocking really how quick life goes in, and I’ve still got hundreds of games to play with my newest built rig :dentures:

Think it's great you are planning to get onto the campaign soon. The sooner there is some sort of campaign the better this game will be even if it's just a single small map area to start. All the work done so far will really come alive once we have a realistic war environment to fly in.

Mig Alley.......spent hours and hours flying that one!
Nats 2024 年 2 月 29 日 上午 11:47
My dad liked Mig Alley, I never got into that one myself but I do like Strike Fighters 2 which features planes from around the same era - Sabres and Hunters.

Oh Mig Alley and a Force Feedback Pro (made for it) joystick sublime! It had a recording gun camera when you pressed the trigger. EAW was the one I eventually couldn’t put down and is still supported today - decades after release.
Strike Fighters was made by the same guys that made EAW. It was an easy pickup and play with brill visuals

I preferred Pacific Air War to EAW personally - torpedoing ships and dive bombing carriers but the Zeros were lethal

You would like this. Not over complicated. I love it for a blast. An oldie.
It’s getting it that’s the prob. Used to be on steam.

It’s on CDKeys for 99p !!!

I have the original PAW:1942
What I most loved about that was the ricochets when you fired at planes the ground, ships. Basically, they took original footage and copied the exact gun-cam.

Battlestations was a really good series.

I loved how there were officers walking around the deck of the ships.

The battle ship engagements were very well done. You could feel the heavy guns firing salvo's and you even had to lead/predict where the enemy ships would be so your shells landed there. I put in a good number of hours in both of them, despite them being 'light'.
Very well done. There was even highlighted area on the ships as you bombed/torpedoed them, so you could try and hit them to cause max damage; Ammo/fuel/engine etc.

You could even put up flak barrages as enemy fighter/bombers came in then switch to different armament around the ship as targets moved; inc launching your own torps (subs in the game as well, though i found them bloody hard to stay alive in them for any length of time!) lol

Battleships Midway is still there. Plus a playable demo

Yeah Atlantic Fleet was good for battleships engagements. A cheap game that I played for hours that was the predecessor of Cold Waters I think. Even had a simple campaign in it as well.

No need to buy AAA games when there are really good indie war games/sims around.

I can't wait for this!!! This game already has an amazing foundation, physics feels good, weapons are fun to use, decent variety of enemies and flyable helos...Dynamic campaign is the only thing that needs to hook me up for hours...some sort of progression/objetive/goal to work towards to!

Thank you Jimmy for what you are doing!
