Don't know if it divides the exp among the members of the party.
Thanks in any case, is there ingame information about these mechanics ?
This makes me want to find that Drayk skill point as soon as possible.
This means that the most power-gaming way to play would be to have 7 creatures summoned and kept alive throughout the game (this way main character does not overlevel, but has a whole party of strong creations).
Silly part however is the fact that the base level of creations increase based off skill levels of shaper anyway, so one would need to max out shaper skills and INT before even creating baseline creation.
All in all this means that it does not really matter to keep creations alive, it is nothing game changing, but keeping one tanky melee creation alive at start of game does make him tonky.
If you start the game and max out your combat creation skill, you can get lets say lvl8 or 9 first melee creations and they will carry you to midgame with your eyes closed, while slowly gaining in all stats as they lvl more, so INT is less important as shaping skills, because you can summon multiple creations and only invest 2 points in INT to control them, they will be very powerful from the shaping skill alone, but this means you need to keep the creations alive.
I have not tested whether they still gain XP (as they are much higher lvl than enemies slain).
Late game, you can invest in main char INT and boost the extra stats as you summon them.
If main char is very high lvl (lets say 10) and creations are very low lvl (3 or 4) and you slay an enemy which is low lvl, the main char will get 0 XP, and also low lvl creations will gain 0 XP.
So it feels like following happens:
1) first the XP is gained depending on the main characters lvl vs the enemy.
2) then, depending on how many creations you have in party, the XP is lowered and each gets some (but its not divided straight up and split, if all party is low lvl the total sum is more XP than gained per kill).
3) unsure whether creation lvl at this point has impact on XP they gain (scenario where main char is lvl1 but creations are lvl19).
4) unsure whether creations can lvl past lvl20 (in a scenario where you rush a single creation skill to high levels, summon a creation and keep it alive throughout the game from midgame).
New game, fire creation at lvl5.
First created fyora has lvl6
Main char at lvl1
first enemy fyora kill got me 75XP,
main char gained 69XP,
summoned fyora gained 55XP.
So it seems that, while it is best to level creations while main char is at low level, the creations get reduced XP the higher level they get. However, I have not tested whether this is because of slain enemy level difference or difference between creation and main char lvl.
Main char lvl1
1st Fyora lvl3
2nd Fyora lvl5
First fyora kill = 75XP
Main char gains 64XP
lvl3 Fyora gains 51XP
lvl5 Fyora gains 51XP!!! (the same XP despite being higher lvl)
This means that creations gain XP depending on how much XP is gained per kill (what shows in log) and how many members are in the party, and thats it!
Seems like creations always get lower amount of XP than shaper.
However, this means that one can start the game and focus only on a single shaper skill, create 2 or 3 creations with high levels and watch them level to even higher levels if keeping them alive as shaper is gaining XP from kills. This also means that one can min-max leveling creations by first clearing areas of enemies and finishing quests only later (as quest rewards give XP chunks but not sure whether that XP is given to creations as well).
Creations DO get experience from other sources other than kills. So, as long as you have your long-term creation party set, do whatever quests you want.
I have a main char at lvl3 with 4 lvl13 thahds,
These high level Thahds are getting XP from low lvl fyoras and thahds in first areas.
So, to answer my own question, it is worth keeping creations alive, but only if you invest into a shaping skill early in the game and level your creations up by giving them XP while your main char is low lvl.
Once main character is at high lvl, creations will stop gaining XP if kills for main char will stop giving XP.
