What does mean CD in Sonic CD?

The game was originally for the Sega Mega CD console (which was an add-on for the Mega Drive I think). It was their first CD-based console so yeah, it stands for Compact Disk (not computer disk).

Apparently, as I found out, it also stands for Chrono Distortion (based on the theme of time travel) which is actually kind of clever.

It was made because of the fact Whitehead's version was digital only.

This is the same issue as when Doom 64 got ported to PC and modern consoles.
