Could Whitehead do this game the same threatment as this one?

And barely played (the Sonic Gems Collection port got cancelled because they couldn't find a way to emulate the 32X)

Such a shame it didn't make it in to the Gems Collection. I had that collection on my PS2 many years ago and it was my first exposure to Sonic R, Sonic CD and Sonic the Fighters bringing those games over to a newer audience, but recently hearing there was going to be a port/emulation of Knuckles' Chaotix on it as well... words can't describe how upsetting it was to hear.

I knew of the Chaotix through Sonic Heroes back in the day but knew little of their origins until much later on. But regardless of the actual quality of the game itself (I hear it's pretty mediocre according to most that have played it) it's still disappointing it never saw any form of re-release at all.

The Game Gear games were a nice bonus though - I never had a GameCube back then nor did I have SADX for it that included all those games as a bonus, so it was nice to see all twelve games in playable form on PS2 due to both the Mega Collection Plus and Gems Collection discs. Not to mention the former had Comix Zone and Ristar while the latter included Vectorman 1 and 2 as unlockable bonus games.

Yeah, I'm still curious about why Sega's legacy content has changed since the Mega/Gems Collection days...

We had to way for 2011 to see a proper re-release of Sonic CD (thanks for Whitehead) but they still don't re-release Sonic 3&K (and even less of Sonic 3 alone + Sonic & Knuckles) anymore.

Even the Segasonic the Hedgehog arcade game was planned (if I recall correctly) but they couldn't find a way to effectively emulate the trackball.

There are many Sonic game stuck on their original platform (Pocket Adventure on the NGP, the Advance and Rush trilogies and the Rivals Dualogy).

Finally, I hope they eventually re-release their 8-bits Sonic (and other Sega) games here.

And that's only IF you live in Europe or Australia (like I do) or in Japan seeing as for some strange reason, the PS2 version of the Gems Collection never got released in the U.S. so PS2 owners over there would've missed out anyway, whereas only the GameCube version came out worldwide. A real shame considering how much better all of these games play with the PS2 controller as opposed to the GameCube's d-pad.

Wasn't the PS2 very popular in some country where Sega got some popularity (like in Brezil)?

Also I'm thanksful I have the ORI classic controller with the bigger D-pad for that kind of game.

I know the Master System definitely got more popularity in Europe and Australia compared to the U.S. hence why that system still got plenty of games made for it long after being discontinued in the U.S., such as the real versions of Sonic 2 (8-bit) and Chaos in their full screen glory and even a port of Sonic Blast exclusively in Brazil.

Come to think of it, it's weird how Sonic Team seems to treat PAL gamers a bit better than American gamers considering the Master System marketing, the whole Gems Collection situation and even a PS3 release of Sonic Heroes on the digital store which was also Australian and European exclusive, especially when most other game companies I can think of would do the exact opposite for the PAL market.

I need to look closer to Sega's history in Brazil and the rest of South America.

As for Chaotix, maybe Whitehead could add some more traditional levels without the hook ring gimmick as the main flaw of the game is that there is little to no enemies so they felt empty most of the time.

Oh, I almost forgot about the Sonic PC Collection released in 2009, a stellar collection of Sonic games on PC that includes the 2004 version of Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Sonic Riders across a whopping six discs and work great on Windows 10 computers as these versions don't use the SafeDisc DRM that no longer works on modern Windows. In fact, these versions of the games are all completely DRM free meaning you don't even need the disc to run them once installed (Adventure DX still uses a simple disc check, which can be removed with mods).

Even if you don't enjoy any of the other games in the collection, I would still recommend it for Sonic Mega Collection Plus alone; the only problem is that this collection only came out in the PAL region. I still have this collection as I bought it back when stores over here were selling it, but it's one of the best collections the rest of the world missed out on, especially considering I enjoyed all four games in the collection. However, PC games are region free and you shouldn't have too much trouble finding it online if you have any interest in it.

Hence why co-op in most Sonic games were considered more of an afterthought rather than a core mechanic - it doesn't really work that well for a fast paced game like this and typically works better for games that are much slower paced like Mario and Rayman or use split-screen instead of sharing a single screen. Even in Sonic 2, Tails often gets left behind due to Sonic taking priority and the bosses are a joke if you play with someone who knows how to use Tails very well.

I think Sonic Advance 3 was the best we've ever seen this kind of co-op style gameplay for a Sonic game so far, but even that required every player to have their own system and their own copy of the game.

We need this and a Sonic Mania 2.

How about a good vanilla collection, instead of all the high priced remaster purging that's going on right now.

It was going to be in Gems Collection back on Gamecube/PS2 before getting cut.

It should be ported, but as a game its very "ok". So releasing it on its own probably wont happen.

Overrated? You mean the game barely anyone has played?

How about having a remaster with the original included?

Even then I don't think people would buy an old PS2 game specifically for that.
