Metallic Madness Act 3 Bug

When I reach the laser bug room, trying to jump on these bugs while they are attacking makes sonic go through them without landing any hits and the battle continues until you die or run out of time.
1 attempt out of 15 total to finish this room was succeful.
(Bad Future).
Has anyone encoutered this bug yet?

Are you sure you aren't just hitting them too later or too early?

I don't know, now that I've completed the game it doesn't occur anymore.
Maybe they reduced the hitbox to such extents in this port that it's very difficult to hit them.
Don't remember it to be so precise in the original.
