i'm getting really tired of this crap. it's ruining my gaming experience. i want to immerse myself in an authentic medieval world. not some woke ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. i see woke every day on social media anyway, now i'm getting annoyed with this crap even in medieval games.

aveum. i really shouldn't even waste my time on this one but the main character is white and it's set in a fantasy world in the slums under a bridge where above a forever time spanning war is going on. that's not a era in history, there is no precedent for the race of the people living there.


and last of the 4 ... bauldur's gate, which is set in faerun. real quick here's run down of faerun: dwarves, dragons, elves, a lichness or two, at least 40 minor races, god knows how many drow or wemics are hiding hither and tither. the land of the forgotten realms has 1000 races and you listed it as being too woke? it literally can't be too woke.

again, if your argument is rendered moot after 1 reply - you shouldn't have wasted your time in the first place.

Every publicly traded company is "woke", since the dollar is steadily, and reliably decreasing in value, its often more profitable to take out massive ESG loans with good rent than it is making actual video games.
One could call this underhanded, scummy Hollywood financing, but publicly traded companies has and will be sued if squeezing every last drop of blood out of the international markets isn't their number one priority 100% of the time.

While I agree that a game taking place in a historic place should use the correct historical people that live in that area and use other ethnic groups very sparsely, especially when you are selling the game as historic and based on history.

Kind of like what Ubisoft has made with the Assassin's Creed series. Say what you will about the mtx and season passes and what other terrible things they've done but they have made the AC era characters true to their origins.

BUT, this world, Aveum, is not based on history, our history. It's a fictional, fantasy world with magic. Even though the technology is somewhat medieval based they do have flying ships and other advancements with magic. Having people from multiple ethnic groups makes sense.
Same with any make-up or hair styles or clothes or sexuality, it's a fictional world that's made from the ground up, not based on our history of the world. Taking inspiration from our history and such is not the same as basing something on history.

It does indeed feel like many companies are going this ESG / DEI / Woke route nowadays and many of them are failing as a result. I'll keep voting with my wallet. Any wokeness and I don't pay for the product.
