THIS IS WOKE!!! SHOOT THE BUDLIGHT CANS!
ada lovelace. katherine johnson. liza holberton.
nothing happens without women, so they have to be included when we talk about everything. literally if you are reading these words. a woman is responsible for bringing you into this world. so having women in your space game isn't woke. it is accurate and era and period correct to human history. (see the names above if you're confused, and women, believe it or not, come in a whole array of races and skin tones.... fyi)
so starfield having women isn't woke. because women directly contributed to the technology and accomplishments behind the very idea of starfield. you asked for accuracy. when it comes to space. starfield is pretty damn era and period correct.
were you upset when tsushima was on a japanese island and just happened to be populated with an entire island full of... asians?
all that above? that's called taking the L. any counter argument is just you yelling at clouds. learn to lose with grace and let's move on.
forspoken is set in new york and athia - pretty sure black women exist in new york, and seeing how games like tomb raider and returnal exist, i think we can allow young black girls a main character in a game right? i can name you 15 games where the lead character is white over every 1 you name me where the lead character isn't - you have zero argument there... again. that's another L. you cannot pick the 1 game where the lead character isn't white and then with the same flourish of fingers say you're not racist or xenophobic. wow.
moving on.
aveum. i really shouldn't even waste my time on this one but the main character is white and it's set in a fantasy world in the slums under a bridge where above a forever time spanning war is going on. that's not a era in history, there is no precedent for the race of the people living there.
and last of the 4 ... bauldur's gate, which is set in faerun. real quick here's run down of faerun: dwarves, dragons, elves, a lichness or two, at least 40 minor races, god knows how many drow or wemics are hiding hither and tither. the land of the forgotten realms has 1000 races and you listed it as being too woke? it literally can't be too woke.
again, if your argument is rendered moot after 1 reply - you shouldn't have wasted your time in the first place.
Though to be fair, they're dumb enough to do it regardless.
One could call this underhanded, scummy Hollywood financing, but publicly traded companies has and will be sued if squeezing every last drop of blood out of the international markets isn't their number one priority 100% of the time.
It's actually getting ridiculus.
On every single forum.
Steam need to get on top of this as its becoming excessive part of the steam discussions on pretty much every single game released.
If you are calling a game woke then you are almost certainly an american teen who spends far too much time on Reddit and listens to Joe Rogan podcasts.
You need help and Steam need to do a much better job at monitoring and restricting this political nonsense on their forums.
Woke.
Because game is woke and has woke themes.
Facts.
Example: All the female characters are uglified. And act rude/lots of attitude.
And everyone knows it is done on purpose to avert the male gaze.
Kind of like what Ubisoft has made with the Assassin's Creed series. Say what you will about the mtx and season passes and what other terrible things they've done but they have made the AC era characters true to their origins.
BUT, this world, Aveum, is not based on history, our history. It's a fictional, fantasy world with magic. Even though the technology is somewhat medieval based they do have flying ships and other advancements with magic. Having people from multiple ethnic groups makes sense.
Same with any make-up or hair styles or clothes or sexuality, it's a fictional world that's made from the ground up, not based on our history of the world. Taking inspiration from our history and such is not the same as basing something on history.
Did not sell enough copies to cover development costs.
Hopefully they kept the competent employees.
