Obligatory Stutter Thread
The stutter in this game is profound. Most games I don't have issues with, but I had the same issue with Atlas Fallen. However, capping that to 60 fps solved that issue (even though I hate compromising fps). This game I cannot say the same.

I have an RTX 4090 and an i9 13900k. 32 gigs of RAM. Latest Nvidia drivers. Runs well above 80 fps most of the time with every version of DLSS + Frame Generation. I've tried every variant of DLSS. Balanced, Quality, Performance, with and without frame generation.

Graphics are maxed out, except for Anisotropic Filtering when seems to put me over the CPU limit when enabled at all. Very odd for a modern game.

Have tried Vsync both on and off and forced through Nvidia Control Panel. Got the game capped at 120 fps in RIvaTuner -- tried capping it at 60 fps too, to no avail.

Stutters every time. I've got it to where there's the least amount of stutter but it's still very evident. Interestingly, turning on the usually bugged Nvidia Reflex Latency seemed to improve things a little.

Cutscenes run absolutely smooth.

What's up here? Any guesses? Is this game just another poorly optimized one like Atlas Fallen and Jedi Survivor? Others don't seem to be having this same issue yet. Granted, it's just released. I would hate to have to refund this.

Only thing I can think of is maybe I'm not utilizing the right amount of cores. There was an option I messed with the other day that seemed to alter it. How many cores should I have enabled in BOOT Advanced Options under Number of Processors for my i9 13900k? 32? This is the only culprit I can think of that may be exclusively related to my hardware.

mines been smooth no problems decently high fps on a 7900xt

Could be an Nvidia issue then?

Just a shot in the dark:

Try disabling your E cores. I remember DF did a video on some UE5 tech and they basically didn't do anything (engine didn't really scale past 8 threads at all), and I remember Jedi Survivor at launch had issues with Intel systems due to P core tasks being assigned to E cores.

All I can say is I have a 7700x and haven't been having stutter issues other than traversal stutter, which has unfortunately been an unreal problem since UE3 lol....is what it is I suppose 🤷‍♂️

Oddly enough for me (i9 11900K, RTX 3070, 32 GBs) I only really come across frame drops but no stutters. Also using high - ultra settings, DLSS

That did NOT solve the issue with Atlas Fallen. A solution would have been to fix it.

No stutter here. 4k ultra maxed no DLSS at a locked 60fps with vsync.

Smooth as butter here mate, 120fps+ at 3440x1440 with no stutters.

Here's your solution, stop using Intel CPUs lol. AMD is king.

Massive props to you. While the stutter is not completely gone, it has been greatly mitigated. Thank you so much.

Nevermind. The problem is still pretty evident. Still, not nearly as bad.
Paper Rival Aug 22, 2023 @ 6:43pm
I was having problems with stuttering till I turned off dlss altogether.

EDIT:
take it back, still stuttering when moving to new areas

Hmmm, maybe I should try prioritizing the game to only one CCD or actually use "CPU sets" in Process Lasso to set a looser affinity to only one CCD.

No stuttering, extremely smooth, 101.8FPS

The frame time graph built into AMD control panel says there is a lot of jitter, but I didn't notice it https://ibb.co/LgnS34k

7900X3D
with
7900XTX

Playing at 1440P Ultrawide on Ultra settings

Also im forcing my 7900X3D to run on all 12cores/24 threads via process lasso.

Not quite sure what this entails, but how did this work out for you?

Yeah nothing gets rid of it - must be shader stutter because starting back in those old areas hasn't got any stuttering
