How different is this from the original Cave Story?

I've been a huge fan of Cave Story ever since I've played the original one (my favorite game up to date) so I'm just wondering how much Cave Story + changes.
Are there dialogue changes like from the Wii version (I really hated those changes :L)? Or is the gameplay/storyline different or better?

Basically... is it worth buying and does it stand equal to the original?

I'm asking the same question. Some achievements are... weird. "Cave Story Clone" for exemple.

It's almost no different from the original gameplay wise, it's an update from 8-bit to 16 bit graphics and music and that's about it.
Translation wise, I dunno. Never played the Wii version and only played the original a bit, but there's no gramatical errors or apparent mistranslations.
Though if you mean stuff like Balrog saying "Oh Yeaaahhh" instead of "Huzzah" then yeah, they changed it to "Oh yeah." Sorry.
But otherwise, it's better than original just by being the original, with updated graphics and a signifigant amount more content. Like time attack mods, boss rush, "Curly Story" Replaying the game as Curly Brace with some more conversations.
It's really good and I'd highly recommend it.

Don't get yourself down, there's a mod called agtpstory that allows you to use the Aeon Genesis translation on Cave Story +, so Balrog can no longer be the Kool-Aid man.

One thing that 85% people don't know about Cave Story and Cave Story+...
Original runs in 50 FPS while CS+ runs at 60 FPS.
You can tell the difference when you try Sacred Ground speed run with Nikumaru Counter activated.

That's an interesting fact. The Sacred Ground always had good FPS on the original CS for me... it's good that it runs even better for this one :D

I took a look at Valdis and it looks superb but I'm running Linux so I couldn't really get it (unless I used wine but that's finicky). Dust looks great though I was thinking about getting it on the next sale :P

Dust is probably the best platformer made in recent years, it's really amazing.
I just got Valdis Story a while ago and it's really good too. I personally liked Dust a bit more, but that's just me, also I haven't played Valdis as much so it much catch me more later in.
