Three Bosses in a row? What!? Are you kidding me!?
Who thought that would be a good idea? Why is there no save option before the final boss?

Why? Just Why?

Which ending/final boss are you refering to? I can't recall any that didn't let you save before one of the bosses (or at least let you start on the boss you were on if you died)

You go past a tough spiky cave, climb to the top and you reach these ancient ruins where you then have to battle Misery, the Doctor, Muscle Doctor and the core...problem is you can't save before facing the Core.

I'm not very skilled and it took me about an hour just to beat Misery and the Doctor, I just can't handle another boss battle on only 5% of my life remaining.

I think that's unfair for normal mode. I didn't get to save Curly or rather I did but didn't know I had to drain her. I don't think I can finish this game :_(

Sorry, I'm an idiot. I'm so use to getting forum alerts from another game that I didn't realise this was for cave story Cave Story (That's also why I deleted my comment). :steamfacepalm:
But yeah, I agree, it's pretty unforgiving.

Tips time! If you alreay used the life-pot, you can go back down the final cave.

Also, speaking with Chako (the Coloured Mimiga) twice after defeating the doctor will make hearts spawn above the hanging Mimiga.

I'm also curious about your final weapon slots...

Here is video of myself making it to the core with max 8 HP and no missiles to help with strategy. Like the title says, the audio is horrible, so beware.

I was just doing this to relax, but it is good to note that the doctor will be obliterated pretty quickly with the missile launcher. If you took the nemesis instead of the blade, then you do have to be more careful with Sue and Misery.

Technically it is 4 in a row. Misery, Doctor, Muscle Doctor, Undead Core

I agree that the difficulty spike from the last cave (not hidden) and the final bosses is huge, and could be better, but, hey, final bosses are not meant to be easy.

With some time you'll get the hang on that. You will be so much happy when you'll do it.
Please let us know how things are going!

I regret trading in Blade for Nemesis...what first seemed like a clever idea wound up making things more difficult. Blade would have been useful to fend off the bat swarms. D :)
I'm mostly using the upgraded Polar Star and Nemesis.

I figured out I could take out Muscle doctor real quick with missiles so I spent a long while backtracking to farm for them.

Didn't know about this helpful Chako guy, thanks for the tip and the video! What gun are you using against misery?

I'll do my best, I'm still a bit bitter about it but I'll update this post if I manage to beat the Core!

It's called the Snake. It is my favourite weapon, but it is only as powerful as the nemesis at best. You can use the Nemesis like I used the snake.

The Spur is the best weapon in the game. It faster and easier to beat misery with that in combination with missiles and the Nemesis.

As for collecting missiles- did you check the map on the Balcony? Might be too late now, though...

Also, if you prefer King's Blade, then Mr. Little will trade back over and over again.

Unfortunately that happiness is short lived, because of the blood stained sanctuary.

I really hate the last bit of this game. Everything else, absolutely love it.
"Sigh" I guess even one of the best game ever made, isn't perfect.

try killing misery without losing hp and use rockets on the doctor ins both of his forms, then talk to the purple mimiga twice and enjoy the hearts, finally for the core fight, kill missery first, NOT Sue, you can even spare her. It should be pretty easy now.

Actually, after those "last battles" there's another 3 battles in the best ending.
Now that I finally managed to get to Ballos (playing on easy mode), I'm even more surprised and amazed that there are people who actually beat this game with only 3HP. I lose most of HP in second stage of Sacred Grounds. I can't survive Heavy Press without using a Life Pot. And finally I can't even beat the Ballos in his basic form...

Second room is mostly RNG, it is impossible to reliably beat it. There is a trick to regain health after it:enter the third room, get the two hearth on the bottom right, then boost up to the third room and re-enter. You can basically farm health to full, and then proceed until the end of the third room,

It makes things just a little bit easier, and you can keep the health pot for Ballos' second/third form.

There are few exploits that you can use to make the fight a bit easier.

Here's a speed run video that may make the Sacred Grounds/Blood Stained Sanctuary a bit more tolerable.

Well, I made a small progress. I managed to defeat Ballos in his basic form, but failed at second one. It's difficult to stand next to his eye. And all those damn bats are so annoying and distracting...
