Also, I like Blood Sanctuary, it is a well designed stage. I have beaten it 3 hearts and everything. And finally, Ballos is a really fun fight. Might be one of my favorites in gaming.
I'm on the fence about whether that whole ridiculous Blood-Stained Sanctuary superboss is worth it after already getting the good ending. I was under the impression that there was another ending attached to it, but the whole place sounds like concentrated BS and from what I've read so far it's a multi stage boss fight that you have to beat in one go from start to finish, right?
EDIT: Edited topic for clarity since I was mixing up some details.
The rifle is actually better than the Spur especially for speed running. Spur is strong and really easy to get used to especially for bosses. You dodge while charging and then release it. Very casual friendly strategy. However it also kinda outshines the other weapons in that regard. The blade and the bazooka have more damage potential. So technically speaking there is no need for the spur. The machine gun on the other hand adds a certain versatility to your character.
Not to mention, it's just not worth it to slog through everything until you reach the point of getting the gun.
Again I just said this, there are BETTER dps dealers: the sword and the missile launcher. So technically there is no need for the spur. You might as well have the added utility of the machine gun which is useful throughout the game. It also makes the climb really trivial. Spur is for those who like to charge while dodging. More casual players.
And I wanna stress, the spur is fantastic for those who are looking for something like that.
Not only do you have to go through an area filled with 1 shots, you gotta fight 2 bosses (1 with 3 phases) all in a row with no break.
I did the game on easy and the area was still stupidly difficult. Required multiple retries and I even saved 1 health pot for this area.
my brain was going like after I beat it: "If I played on Normal or Hard something tells me I'd need some extreme mental help afterwards"
Saved Curly though, so I guess it was worth it.
