Any point in trying to do the Blood-Stained Sanctuary...
If you're not a masochist or an absolute completionist?

Well the game does have a lot of scenes where you connect to Curly Brace so just saving her is enough. Not only that but if you fail to save her life in the labyrinth, you see her dead body during the island escape scene. And if you save her life but not get the best ending, well she is inside the Blood Sanctuary.

Also, I like Blood Sanctuary, it is a well designed stage. I have beaten it 3 hearts and everything. And finally, Ballos is a really fun fight. Might be one of my favorites in gaming.

Saving her was definitely a high point. It's been so long that I'm probably mixing some details up, though.

I'm on the fence about whether that whole ridiculous Blood-Stained Sanctuary superboss is worth it after already getting the good ending. I was under the impression that there was another ending attached to it, but the whole place sounds like concentrated BS and from what I've read so far it's a multi stage boss fight that you have to beat in one go from start to finish, right?

EDIT: Edited topic for clarity since I was mixing up some details.

It is more that the areas leading up to the boss are very difficult and you have little to no way of healing before you start the boss fight. The boss fight itself is hard but not unfair on its own.

its actually fun as hell (pun not intended) when you get used to it. Granted, you'll need around 57 deaths, but you will get used to it. what weapons do you use?

I haven't actually played the game in a long time after getting the best ending. I was thinking about doing another run with the Spur for X-Buster shenanigans (and because the rifle quickly loses its appeal).

The rifle is actually better than the Spur especially for speed running. Spur is strong and really easy to get used to especially for bosses. You dodge while charging and then release it. Very casual friendly strategy. However it also kinda outshines the other weapons in that regard. The blade and the bazooka have more damage potential. So technically speaking there is no need for the spur. The machine gun on the other hand adds a certain versatility to your character.

Not to mention, it's just not worth it to slog through everything until you reach the point of getting the gun.

The problem, if I recall, is damage output. The rifle was comparatively weaker and you would lose weapon power every time you got hit. Unless something has changed or I'm misremembering.

Again I just said this, there are BETTER dps dealers: the sword and the missile launcher. So technically there is no need for the spur. You might as well have the added utility of the machine gun which is useful throughout the game. It also makes the climb really trivial. Spur is for those who like to charge while dodging. More casual players.

That's true. The recoil from the rifle could be useful for tricky jumps, even if it made the weapon a bit more difficult to handle. I don't consider myself a hardcore platform player by any means and I'm a bit rusty.

And I wanna stress, the spur is fantastic for those who are looking for something like that.

I just did that area.
Not only do you have to go through an area filled with 1 shots, you gotta fight 2 bosses (1 with 3 phases) all in a row with no break.

I did the game on easy and the area was still stupidly difficult. Required multiple retries and I even saved 1 health pot for this area.
my brain was going like after I beat it: "If I played on Normal or Hard something tells me I'd need some extreme mental help afterwards"

Saved Curly though, so I guess it was worth it.

Can you even get another heath pot if you use it to beat the regular game?
