How to get more survivor tokens?

I've accidentally refunded all my survivors and lost the points to hire them. I am on 0/12 Survivor Tokens and each 30 minute playthrough racking up to a few/handful billion points nets me halfway to 1 survivor token point. This makes playing EX Survivor mode an absolute chore.

It is also unclear as to how the refund system works, perhaps this can be broken down into simpler terms so people don't accidentally do what I have done, I can see I am not the first to do this either.

I have a balance patch up next and will be lowering the requirements and increasing how they are earned, probably within the next 2 days.

I'm also lowering the refund penalty.

Btw, the way it's earned is thru Bonus Jackpots this + the requirement on the meter and earns you a Token. Bonus Jackpots are triggered by the yellow Reticles.
