You should probably watch Last Year at Marienbad if you loved Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

Hi! I haven't found anything talking about the movie while searching the discussions, so I figured some of you probably don't know that Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is heavily inspired by the movie Last Year at Marienbad.

I had a feeling early on but there is multiple bits that confirms it : Marienbad is name-dropped in the menu, two wine bottles talk about a woman in a white feather dress and one in a black feather dress (two dresses that are specific to this movie), even names references the actors of the movie (very small spoiler) Delphine is common enough but Pitoeff seems a little too specific .

I would even argue that two, the game and the movies, can be seen as companion to each other. While Lorelei is about (massive spoiler) an older woman coming to terms with a traumatic event , there's interpretations of Marienbad that are very similar (Spoiler for the movie) It might be about a woman coming to terms with what happened to her Last Year at Marienbad, which might be either a murder or a sexual assault depending on the interpretations, though there's a dialog one hour through that heavily implies the latter .

Just figured I'd recommend it to y'all if you liked the game.

Yeah, french New Wave and later Italian Neo-Realism pictures. A game for cinema fans of that era. Last Year was the first movie I thought about when I just began playing the game and the more I played the more obvious it became.
