Obviously, if you cut a square in one direction, you need to make 2 more cuts in the opposite one to get the pieces to be squares again. If you have many horizontal pieces, use a vertical cut to create a vertical piece somewhere else to balance them out.
And of course, use the bombs to skip cuts in a direction you don't want (most likely because the board is unbalanced and you need cuts in the other direction). Use the bombs on the smaller pieces (the screen won't get replenished if the only spots available at the top are 1x1 in size.
