Just realized this one is actually “solvable”, because there is no randomness.

Does anyone have tips or a general guide on hot to get the necessary score for the achievement?

I've been nibbling away at it too, and have realized that if you divide the board perfectly into 1x1 squares you get into ~140 points territory (I think exact number will differ depending on the order of cutting). I've been able to get to 150 by using bombs on top of that, but I think you need 200 for the achievement, so some concrete strategy/video would be useful.

I see the one above uses a lot of 1x2 rectangular pairings, but it's hard to tell how much that is caused by the entire board being vertically twice the size of SPL-T2, and how much there is benefit to the actual larger pairings (usually the larger rectangles I pair, the lower my score)

I'm recording my attempts so if I figure out I'll post it so people can try and follow, but am hoping someone else already done the legwork there

I ended up figuring it out, using a similar strategy than your video, only making it 1x1. Tried to save the bombs until I was full or I had to use them to progress.

In retrospect this is way easier than ilumino. Those beans are gatekeeping this 100% so hard lol.

You have full bombs and aren't using them. Use your bombs!

See, I did not realize what the bombs do. I'm not familiar with SPL-T and the game isn't exactly explained anywhere, so I thought bombs are just a "clear a block from the board" letting you essentially skip a horizontal/vertical split. I did not realize that they cut the timer of adjacent locked blocks in half, which is the crucial bit of making this work xd

I believe they cut the timer of ALL blocks in half. Which is why using 3-4 in a row is really, really beneficial. Drops your blocks from 120-140 splits down to 8.
