Puzzle box 1938

I have the numbers in the right place, I'm pretty sure, but the box refuses to open.
I'm supposed to be putting in 1938, right?

I think the layout is

8 - 3
5 - 9
1 - 6
4 - 2
0 - 7

I'm also seriously struggling with this.

I know what I'm supposed to do but find it very hard.

I have a very different order though.

7 - 1
0 - 9
3 - 4
2 - 6
8 - 5

The number sequence (place for numbers) is different per player / save. And yes, you're supposed to put in the date for all the puzzle boxes

I do it the way I made the notes and it doesn't open, so then I see the hinges and think it's upside down, so I turn my notes over and it still doesn't open.

Maybe the number assignment is wrong?

I double checked the whole thing, it sounds like it's not a known bug for everyone so I don't know what to do with it

Just checking, 1938 is the room where you use the camera to compare the sizes of the numbers to the background squares right? Really weird since I didn't have any bugs with it

Yeah, the numbers should match the box - wall with the camera should be the bottom side of the box and vice versa

I think I'm just not getting the pattern right. You mentioned using the camera to compare the size.

Is there a definitive way to do that? I feel like I'm guessing after a certain point

If I'm thinking of the right puzzle room, I recommend zooming the camera in so the reticle matches a pixel along the side and then just slowly panning until the reticle exactly matches the number's size. a few are quite close so i would note if it seems to almost match a number so u can try swapping those around if your first solution doesn't work

mine still doesn't work, redid it from scratch again and it's the same layout. I don't think the numbers are confusable.

okay, I have the 1938 vision that would have come from the 1938 page, and a record of the 1938 page but the box is closed. So either it came out of a different box or my box glitched because I don't remember ever opening it or maybe I said the right word by accident? I don't know what happened.

I had the same issue but then realised I was trying the wrong box. It's the one on the right as you enter not the back right one.
