Stuck after the Quiz Club

So I made it through the quiz club and am viewing the three paintings… but I’m at a loss of what to do here. I can’t see anything to interact with beyond the signs and the note by the bed.

I’m wondering if there’s any needed information I’m missing at this point? I haven’t solved any of the puzzle boxes yet…

2. You'll need to solve every puzzle (including the puzzle boxes) to reach the ending

I'm at the same spot now and I'm still not sure how I use the paintings

I get that the both the paintings and the buttons for the password use 3x3 square patterns, but none of the buttons match the paintings I found. is there an additional step that I have to do to decode them?

Don't go by the symbols on the wall. Pay attention to where the character is standing vs. where she appears on the wall.
