I've just reached the magic show and there are fellas there asking for $10 for a disappearing woman act. Considering I only have about $40 (I've not been spending much), I'd like to know what money is for and how limited it is. I bought one of those figurines near the entrance but then held off just in case there were more important things to buy.

Can anyone advise me on my money spending? Ta!

1. Money is used for "collectibles" - which are sort of optional content and will not relate to the actual story solving, so it will not block story progress for "wasting money". Some achievements & (optional) documents are tied to it, and that's about it.

2. There are total of 100 dollars ingame (which you can check via the computer where you save your progress). I will say that you need all the dollars to get all the collectibles - in other words, there is no missable content for making bad spends on figurines

Yeah I've reached lategame and I can confirm that the total amount of dollars in the game is exactly enough to collect everything you need to pay for.

it seems possible to spend 40 dollars at the magic show, 10 for each instance of the disappearing girl thing. Are they all the same or is it intended that you spend 10$ 4 times?

the stories the owl girl tells are different and there's an achievement for hearing them all
