Speedrun - maze men

Any way to trigger them quicker?

I entered the red maze early-ish (40 mins in) but didn’t explore it past the initial screen. Now it is 2 hours in and I only met one of them.

Will do the full maze next so maybe that’s it but appreciate any insights from speedrunners.

My current theory is that it is counting how many screen transitions you do. If you keep going in and out of a room, a maze man spawns in about 10 mins.

I have no idea what the game checks before spawning them (I mean giving you the slightly glitchy state that makes them spawn soon enough). It seemed linked to general progression (truth%), but that's a shot in the dark on my part. I say that because I always saw them when I was making some progress, if I was stuck and just walking around they didn't come.
