Just a fail all around. This IP needs to be handed to a talented studio. Give it to the guys that did ORI.
They did the same thing with the new Oddworld game Soulstorm , ditching the classic movement in favour of a more modern style of platforming that has less precision. It's like the developers don't get what made the originals good.
Fade to black has a special place in my heart. The story, ambient , the music, levels etc... , tho it didnt aged well gameplay wise
Wished they remade this one instead .
It's odd that Flashback represents the pick of the genre of "cinematic platformers" that is slowly fading away, and yet one thing this game fails to respect, it's the only thing that actually matters for this game, its legacy of clunky cinematic controls.
You can look into Lunark or Eternal Castle for something more in line with the classic format
If you are bringing back a cult classic game, you'd think they'd make efforts to understand what made the game popular in the first place.
With less then an hour to go, I will watch and see how it does, but, the 2.5 elements don't really impress me at all.
