Game stuck at "Stopping"

I exited the game from the battle window. On my Steam library page, the game showed 'stop" with and X. I clicked it. Now the game is stuck showing "stopping." I shut down Steam, brought it back up and it still shows stopping. Tried to start the game from desktop menu... nothing.

Have you looked at the Task Manager? Ctrl+Alt+Delete to see if the RTW3 process is still running. If it is, you can end the process there.

Steam games do sometimes get stuck in a running state while not actually running.

Not sure what's going on there, can't reproduce here. Have you checked if your anti-virus/security software is somehow grabbing it? If that were happening to me, my first recourse would be a reboot.

Hey! I had this bug a while back. Restarting my computer fixed it.

I checked Task Manager and there is no RTW3 process running. I had to end all Steam processes and restart Steam and then the game came up not running and I could start it. So I did, played, got fired as Admiral of the Austrian navy and I exited the game by clicking the X. And again, the game stays at "Stopping." Other Matrix games would do this too until I would close the Matrix game start dialog box, but when I end RTW3, there is no Matrix Start game dialog for RTW3 showing.

Yeah, I think I had the only other report of this bug, but it was either a reinstall of the game or a computer restart that fixed it-now that I'm thinking back I did both and then it worked.

I did the verify files thing and Steam found five unverified ones. But that didn't fix the problem.

Did reinstall over your current install or did you uninstall then reinstall? Did you save your save game files? If so, how?

Today I played twice and each time the game stopped properly. Apparently, this resolved itself.

Keep getting this issue. Every time I close the game I am having to restart Steam to get it back open again.

Edit: Restarting PC seems to have solved this issue.
