What's New in Version 1.00.40:

• Reversed the "CA cannot have protected cruiser armour configuration" change.
Important Note: The earlier change to early CA in 1.00.37 proved to be ill considered. As some players have correctly pointed out, the main difference between pre-1900 in game CA and CL should be size, not armor configuration. Early cruisers have now been refurbished in the game and CA are now cruisers that have an armored belt or have a size over 8000 tons, others are CL. Templates and design logic have been updated accordingly. France and Russia have been given belt and sloping armor deck as bonus techs to reflect their early adoption of armored cruisers. This might cause transient issues in already started games with 1.00.37, in which case we advise continuing to play until this resolves itself or starting new game. The end result is that the treatment of pre-1900 cruisers is now much more historical and consistent.
• Added an option to have spacebar both pause and run the game.
• Added weather forecast to pre battle screen. Note that this is unreliable, just as the real weather forecast. It will improve with tech and time.
• Prevented some cheesy tricks in officer assignment, for example assigning bad officers to empty divisions.
• Added possibility to manually change aircraft type of an air unit.
• Added save path info on main screen.
• Fixed a bug where the default settings were not used if the preferences file was not found.
• Fixed a bug that could set the year of ship designs to 1899 in an 1890 start.
• Fixed a bug where a Lieutenant commander could be promoted directly to Admira

thanks.

Could you refine the generate ship picture so that it places all of the components?

You can still strip divisions of all ships from the Ships in service tab... which is good... do you have any idea how boring it is to manually clear out 10 divisions of obsolete DDs and replace them with more modern designs? :steamhappy:

I was going to comment on beta 39 but 40 happened before I had time to post...

Anyway. Can we plz have a "turn of the whole officer system" option? Unless you mico-manage the officer system will actively hurt you. If you do micro-manage the gain is miniscule and totally not worth the effort.

Yes please, or any number of minor improvements (ability to manually place the components that the auto-gen could use). I love making my ships pretty and make side-views for them pretty much every chance I get... but per my thread there's a lot of places it misbehaves.

I'm baffled by the decision to waste limited resources of the team to butcher the officer/division system without any reasons whatsoever. Ain't you supposed to make game better and not worse?

You can manually do it, but it's a pain and should be automated

I really don't mind the manual placement, the trouble is when the automatic placement fails for whatever reason and the game doesn't give you the parts to place manually. In that case you actually can't do it manually

Also having this issue. I have gone into my USER on the specified drive and created the folder its asking for, but still it won't recognize it. Kind of a headache having to remember and reset every preference choice every time I load the game, but otherwise the game runs smooth and great.

I've created even MORE requested folders from USER down to the Designfiles0 (I figured why not) and its giving me "Cannot not create file Deletelog.txt" Error now. I assume its something to do with not being able to create files for itself. But I'm unsure how to give the game admin rights as I've tried a few times. Nor do I know that's the issue. I'm not computer savvy, savvy?

I like the change that prevents you from assigning an incompetent officer to an empty division. However, I have run into an issue with it. It seems that in implementing this it has become all but impossible to remove a division. I see you now need to use a prestige point to remove the officer before you can remove the last ship or disband the division. The problem I have is that even after doing this I still get the message that I need to remove the office even though there is no officer and I still can't remove the last ship or disband the division.
