So, how do you deal with enemy missiles?
Right....Missiles are a thing now. Launching missiles seems simple enough, just pop open the missile control pannel and tell them to have at it.

But HOW exactly do you Counter enemy missiles? (IE shoot them down before they hit something) Is that what the SAM turrets are for?

Still working on unlocking CWIS systems but i do got Radar Directed AA guns, not that they seem to do much.

Normal AA, and developing missile tech to get counter measures

Ships will automatically attempt to evade, countermeasure, or intercept missiles headed for them (or allies, with MSAM etc.)

aw, so their not just for planes, but missile interceptors as well. Lines up with what the manual was saying.

If i read it right:

HSSM, use HSAM (good luck getting those on anything other then battleships or heavy Cruisers)
MSSM, use MSAM (fits on pretty much everything)
LSSM, use LSAM and main guns. (not sure how the batteries will shoot them down but not larger missiles but eh, i won't question it.)
anything smaller then that is Light and Medium AA guns and Duel purpose AA guns.

Have plenty of screening destroyers around. Missiles aren't picky about their targeting - they will pretty reliably attack the first ship near their flight line, even if it's 1/20th the size of the ship they were meant to hit and also already sinking and on fire.

So you lose one destroyer to the enemy's entire SSM payload. And occasionally the destroyer might not sink or burn out.

I'm not sure what you're reading to get this idea, but I don't think any of this is correct.

LSAM, radar-directed MAA, and CIWS LAA can all shoot down ASM/SSM of any size. I've heard of an MSAM upgrade that lets them join in but I haven't seen it.

What the table is telling you is that HSAM attack incoming aircraft before MASM and smaller missiles launch (maybe before HASM too, but I don't think so), so the SAM can prevent the ASM attack by killing the bomber.

Oh.... So thats what that table was for. OK. Edit: Yeah their is a tech that enables Medium SAMs to be anti Missile.
