War VP Calculations for Victory?
In RTW you play a grand admiral, this is reflected in the game's politics through the player only being able to suggest course of actions instead of deciding them. When war's are won, however, this system is somewhat strange. Beyond the leader sometimes ignoring your suggestions, the peace deals feel random in terms of lands won and the degree of victory. How is victory calculated in RTW? Is it by ratio of VPs, or is it by their numerical advantage? How is the peace treaty gains calculated; is it really just a roll of the dice at times?

Any explanation would be great, thanks.

(Also, is loading auto saves done in such a way that it prevents save scumming? Cause if so: Bruh)

Autosaves are made every 60 turns ( hr of game time). The only thing that is fixed is the circumstances at the time of the save - e.g. if you get hit by a torpedo at the time the save is made then you will still have been hit by a torpedo after reload. If, on the other hand, you were hit by a torpedo a turn or two after the save was made, you may avoid the hits by reloading.

The best we can come up with is that victory is determined by a combination of VPs and Unrest level, and the best guess I have is they provide a modifier to the 'dice roll' that the computer makes for you to determine the treaty outcome.

I'm not sure VP totals have any direct bearing on victory terms. If they do, it's certainly secondary to which type of victory terms you get - you can settle a crushingly victorious war with a white peace, no rewards and invasion prizes returned, if the events play out that way. (Unlikely, though maybe not impossible, unless you choose event options that consent to it.)

If you want the biggest loot, (A) make sure you're winning hard and not threatened by unrest and (B) always pick the most hawkish response to peace proposals.

On the NWS forums, one of the devs said the amount of VPs factor into how many points you get to use to pick possessions.
