Merchant resetting conditions?
I have been wondering what the conditions are that cause the merchants in the game to reset their stock. Does anybody happen to know what they are?

I think when you get out of town and then come back they reset their stock. It's kind of annoying when you're saving for the last piece of your armor set and when you come back it's gone.
I think you need to spend a certain amount of time out of town for them to restock. Just leaving and comming back wont reset them.

In my experience if I move 3 screens away they reset. I can portal hop to every town hub (Acts 3 + Mapworks and 2) and come back to them reset. Also I believe dying might also reset vendors, not 100% on that [or efficient]. Hope the information helps.

If you switch towns it WILL reset. Running between the two act 3 town sections will reset vendors in either section.

I think every new area changes the town merchant items. So if you go into the field, go into a cave, and then go to town, the merchant has new gear

I usually just go back every 15-20 minutes or so to check. Haven't really tested my theory .. but I will!

I've noticed that even if I quit a current game, shut down for the night, and resume my game the following day, the vendors all still have the same stuff -- right down to the empty spaces where I had bought something from their stock. (For single player games only, no net, no lan.)

I noticed that too. I was finding it quite curious indeed.

I believe the number thrown out is approximately 3 minutes away from that town when in a dungeon.

it's a hard necroposting, but i've searched for and so maybe others will do this too.
what i found out:
negative:
* 3 minutes anywhere else (e.g. dungeon)
* change town/zone
* 3 screens away
* port to waypoint x and do a run back to town

positive:
* making runs and check every half hour
* start a multiplayer game with active "reroll map" checkbox. this is byfar the fastest option i found.
