Enemies don't ''banish'', you just got away so you can't see them...
Is the first game you play? You know what fog of war is?
http://www.giantbomb.com/fog-of-war/92-14/
Drop Thunder Locus, run away and it will still do damage to the mobs there even when you can't see them...
It works with any other spell too...
Something tell me that you didn't play much and you have more fun complaining than actually playing games...
Also calling Thunder Locus useless? Really? -.-
Kids...
Thunder locus does 0 damage to enemies that are outside the range i mentioned.
Pilars of flame stop tracking.
Enemies that i know that are on the screen area, but outside the ring around me .... are not tracked AT ALL.
I spammed the prismatic spell till i went oom, enemies were still there.
The same with fire pillar.
I understand this may be to save resources... but ... in MultiPlayer this problem doesn't exist.
I see the enemies that are away (because a fellow melee guy is there). My bolts track them.
But Not in SP
Yes
-Thunder locus does 0 damage to enemies that are outside the range i mentioned.
Pilars of flame stop tracking.
You are wrong... Im embermage lvl 47 and Thunder Locus is one of the bests spells, and like any other spell it does damage outside your sight range...
Enough time wasted...
Have fun complaining, i will have fun playing =)
if this happens in single-player however, I have no logical answer since the game pre-generates monster locations the same way it pre-generates the map before you enter an area.
EDIT: try to enable Rim Lighting and increase Map Overlay Opacity in the game options, and see if this helps.
Watched some tubes for confirmation.
Nobody seems to be bothered by it.
Didn't find a solution as of yet.
At least in co-op this isn't a big deal, but single player can just be frustrating with a glass cannon.
I can't fathom how one wouldn't be bugged by already aiming shooty dudes when they appear in plain sight or that the concept of accidently pulling mobs into a fight with poorly aimed stuff is practically a non-issue.
May you have grown in the past 9 years...
Funnily enough fleeing enemies stay visible until the effect ends regardless of distance.
Honestly, I've never experienced what you're complaining about so...whatever.
There's mods to extend enemy draw distance like this one:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=138076230&searchtext=distance
I encounter this mostly with ranged Skills where the target may be knocked back outside the boundary of the draw distance thereby becoming invisible. An issue with increased draw distance is that more foes need to be calculated hence mods like Synergies make frame rates slow with their modded increase of foe counts.
I'm using an older monitor that has 1600 x 900 resolution, and these days I play with lowered graphic options, but I don't recall seeing this back when I played on my Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines on the higher settings either (in my pre-Steam days). It's possible that this is the same monitor I used back then, but I've also played the game on several different laptops with no problems.
It's actually a draw distance issue. Some mods extend this. The default distance where foes appear is too short for some players preference.
The issue with frame rates is an indirect consequence if the draw distance is extended and more foes are present from certain mods.
There was a time when I needed these features explained to me as well and I'm grateful that this info can spread to clarify various aspects of TL2.
