Moving with WASD?
One thing I hated about torchlight 1 was I couldnt move with WASD and was hoping they would have decent control rebinds and its...better at least but still no WASD movement =\ Did anyone come up with a decent control scheme so that mouse button does not move your character? I either end up not being able to attack or not be able to move at all. Dont need WASD just need character to stop spazzing around cuz I keep miss clicking an enemy and the screen moves so I get even more miss clicking

you can bind move to a key and hold it down, then the character runs at the mouse but you don't have to be holding down leftclick

Attack with shift+click.

attacking with control click seems to be a lot better since you actually move to far away targets you click on (but not move when clicked on the ground) but I cant seem to rebind it to 1 key for both configs using the modifier side

Really, moving with the keyboard on an isometric RPG? pls go.

No offense, but this isn't the kind of game you move with the keyboard, this should be played mainly with the mouse, using the keyboard only for shortcuts.
Diablo series, Sacred series, Titan Quest, Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity....I could go on all day.

Really? Thinking just because thats how games used to play and should still be played? pls go

Thats like saying all FPSs should still control like doom 1 just because thats how FPSs always were before.
Except all FPS games DO still control like doom 1.

your absolutely right what was I thinking? We can't aim down the sights, we cant jump (the little skip doesnt count) , we can't crouch into cover and we cant line up head shots through a scope. I feel dumb now as all those new types of controls in modern games must of been from a dream I had
These are all additions to the base concept of wasd+mouse. They are improvements on base concepts.

Ok ok bad example, ill admit it. I am not saying torchlight or diablo is bad by any stretch of the imagination just because of the controls. I still love the game but would just prefer different controls. Any game like this I usually end up getting a wasd emulation mod which is never really as good as implemented wasd movement like sacred 2 had but it would be nice just to have it in game as a choice if you wanted to

I have to say that the first torchlight was a /pain/ for me as a lefty. Those keys that were mapped to the keyboard weren't in particularly convenient or ergonomic places, if you were only using the keyboard with your right-hand (rather than with the left-hand as righties do).

Keybindings are /important/.

No WASD movement = no sale for me, I watsed $5 on the first Torchlight hoping that they'd moved out of the mid-90s with the control scheme. Tried the demo for TL2, took less than 2 minutes for me to back out and uninstall it. Call me back when I can play the game with a controller or WASD movement because click-to-move is the least intuitive control method ever devised by man. I'd rather play a FPS with a gamepad than click to move.

I too would like wasd movement in TL2. But it works fine with this current system, which has its roots in earlier games of the genre. Its usually easy enough for me to adapt to whatever system the game uses instead of remapping and trying to use an alternate setup. And in the long run this works better as well. So start shfit / control clicking in TL2 :)

Not sure if you found your answer, but there is too mcuh to read.
The " ` " Key next to the 1, or ~ if you hold shift... That button. Will make your character run where your mouse is pointing.. I too was annoyed by try to run and clicking on a mob and dying because of it.

To the noobs that want Wasd / zqsd movement did it hurt when you fell on your head do me a favor and get dungeon siege 3 and play it that is in a broad way a game like this but with wasd movement play it to the end and if u stil like that go to a hospital and see a doctor becuzz it sucks (the controls)

Hack 'N Slash is MADE to be controled with your mouse

Guys, isometric games play badly on a kbd, because out of 360 degrees of possible movement, you have a choice of 8. That alone says its crap. Mouse, and even an analogue controler, are infinitely better control schemes. Crusader played badly on a kbd, so does Bastion, so does anything else. If you learn to use the mouse as it's intended in these games you will have a much better time.

The reason almost all ARPG's play with the mouse isn't because they are retarded and hate you for wanting WASD, its because WASD for ARPG is just bad. Yeah it's mid 90's, but it works. Just like the basic navigation and aiming controls for shooters have barely changed since 1996.
