Its depends also on your goals! A playthrough with each class? Reaching lvl100? Grinding for legendaries?
I can not say if its better than D3... I like them both and also play them both because they have different aspects in gameplay! D3 is for compete and TL2 just for fun! And the fun is excellent in TL2! :)
Well, DIII was good on the first day of release, really hard "Inferno" for HC players, a lot of fun.
TLII is a good game also, but I can not say - it is serious. Not a bad single game.
If you want a real challenge... PoE. (I'm not a PoE player, just a fact)
I read on another forum that the main game (play through, with one char) is as short as 20-30 hours? Surely it can't be as short as that? Thinking of buying this. But want a decent play time , not a poxy 30 hours. Thanks
On a side note, what exactly does the multiplayer/LAN involve? And is it still active?
TL2 is definitely light-hearted in terms of atmosphere, especially compared to Path of Exile, or Grim Dawn, which have fairly harrowing storylines.
Also, TL2 doesn't reset maps when you stop a session in the middle of one, and enemies don't respawn on those maps (they stay dead). In most other ARPGs, maps are either reset, or enemies respawn, or both, if you stop a session. This makes TL2 one of the best for shorter play sessions.
About the only major criticism you can make about TL2 in comparison to others is that its gear system and class/progression is a little shallower than the more hardcore options like PoE or GD. Depending on what you are looking for though, this could also be a major plus.
