Can two people play on one copy of the game with two computers?

Potentially remedial question here guys :) I have a friend coming over that wants to check out the game which I have installed on both my laptop and my desktop. Being that I can only log on to Steam on one computer at a time I'm assuming no, but I thought I'd ask, just in case.

No, you need to have Steam running and you can only be logged in on one computer at a time like you just kind of said.

You can actually do this with one copy, provided the game itself allows it. Log into steam with one computer, then put that one into offline mode. Then log in to steam with your second computer. You shoud be play LAN mode this way. I played Resident Evil 5 with a visiting buddy of mine using this method. Hopefully this works for you too.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try and talk him in to creating an account. I'm happy to encourage my friends to throw some money toward the small guys anyway :-)

The idea is to buy two copies of the game for two people to play. Take a closer look at the EULA you agreed to when installed or purchased the game. The suggestion that "Joe" mentioned is a violation of the agreement. Honelsty it's $20......

get off your high horse, his friend wants to try the damn game out on his computer for a couple hours, how can harm come from this other than a potential sale?

Most console games already include COOP, sucks pc games dont have them built into.
